TRAVELING EXHIBIT
COMING SUMMER 2016
Experience Tokyo’s vibrant culture in a
new interactive traveling exhibit at the
Children’s Discovery Museum!
In Hello from Japan families are
transported to two distinct areas of Tokyo
that exist side by side: one serene and
exquisite, the other too cute for words.
The beautiful, natural Shinto Shrine Park invites children to build a bridge,
crawl through a forest, encounter kami spirit, and make a wish at a
wishing tree.
Together, the exhibit highlights how old and new traditions coexist in
Japan, giving visitors a family-friendly window into Japanese culture.
Kawaii Central is a street scape inspired by Tokyo’s bustling Harajuku
district, bursting with color, trendy shops and cuter than cute kawaii styles.
(pronounced like Hawai’i). Kids sing karaoke, smile for the photo booth
camera, serve up a seasonal Japanese meal, and design adorable
mascots for their families.
This exhibit was created by CMOM and is part of the
Freeman Foundation Asian Culture Exhibit Series, funded
by the Freeman Foundation and administered by ACM.

Her son, Matthew, is an actor and a

love” (playing the violin) upon completion
of his training and moving to New York. Dr.
Looney moved to Bloomington in August of
2010 with his wife, Dr. Woodhouse (Medical
Director of the Community Cancer Center),
and his then five-year-old son, Darrian. Dr. Looney continues to

He is the proud husband of Bloomington Township Supervisor Deb
Skillrud and proud father of Hans, Kirsten, Leif, Rikka, Meta, and
Linnea.
Dr. Dan Brownstone (Piano) started playing
the piano when he was seven years old.
He attended the University of Southern
California School of Music for two years
before deciding to pursue medicine
as his career. It was not until moving to
Bloomington in 1995 that he once again
took up the piano. Dr. Brownstone is an
Ophthalmologist in his 20th year in practice
at Eye Surgical Associates. He is the proud
father of Evan (computer science) and
Claire. Claire is in her first year of veterinary
school at University of California, Davis.
Dr. Brownstone lives in Bloomington with his lovely wife, Debra, and
way too many “pets”.
Dr. Meng Horng (Guitar and Harmonica)
is a third generation OB/Gyn and
graduated from Medical School of
Kaohsiung Medical College, Taiwan in
1965. He received postgraduate training
at Providence Hospital, Southfield and
Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital and Medical

few. Dr. Horng and his wife, Linda, have two children, Wendy and
Aaron, who have in turn given them four grandchildren. Since
his retirement, he has spent more time on the west coast near his
children and grandchildren. He has always enjoyed playing in the
concert events and thinks this is a good cause for the fundraising
event.
Proud to serve our musically talented students in the
Twin Cities and surrounding area for over 25 years!
