After growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina I decided to get a change of scenery from city life and attended Appalachian State University in rural Boone, North Carolina. Having a life-long interest in science, I majored in Geography with a concentration in GIS (Geographic Information Systems). While in college I was a trombone player in the ASU Jazz Ensemble and joined Gamma Theta Upsilon, the National Geographic Honor Society. After a brief stint in Augusta, Georgia as a GPS Technician for a small consulting firm I was hired by the City of Greer, South Carolina in 2011 as the City's GIS Planner.
