1. …having called for our letter, I do not say from among those which had been removed
but from among those in our midst, the letter written against individuals similarly
habituated by those who acted as leaders. And if we are lying about them, let them
question the one thing of those which we said they did, but (they will say), “We can, but
we do not want to (do so)”, just as someone was saying about me, perhaps in ridicule;
and in any case we have conceded what Epicurus says, that for things good according to
nature to be seen as hard to come by is inconceivable.
