2. INTRODUCTION
Preaching, an essential component
of bearing witness Christ.
Preaching is an art, effective
preaching takes time, energy, and
tremendous skills to establish an
encounter with the Word.
To preach well also requires
creativity and personal conviction.
Preaching remains an essential
aspect of Christian witness and
mission even in our digital age.

3. I-JESUS THE PARABOLIC PREACHER
(PROPHET OF THE REIGN OF GOD)
Jesus’ own disciples identified Him as a
prophet.
Jesus also seemed to refer to Himself as a
prophet when he testified, “[A] prophet has
no honor in the prophet’s own country” (John
4:44; Atkins 2013, 281-282).
Prophet is a reliable description of Jesus,
since this is attested in all four gospels and
throughout the New Testament.
Parabole in Greek literally means “to set
beside” or “to throw beside”. That’s why
Jesus’ parable normally involve a comparison
between the everyday and transcendent, the
earthly and heavenly.
4. REASONS WHY JESUS GAVE PARABLES
to impart "the
knowledge of
the secrets of
the kingdom of
heaven" to his
disciples
Parables are
easy to
remember
Parables reveal
the hearts of
the listeners
5. II-THE MESSAGE
OF THE
REIGN OF GOD
Justice is the first
and foremost
message of Jesus’
preaching. For
Jesus, justice was
primarily “a matter
of relationship”
(Fuellenbach 1997,
157).
Jesus also invited people
to live in peace. A state of
wholeness or
reconciliation with God
and people; restoring
people to a “right
relationship” with God
and with people.
The Reign of God
is a kingdom of
life. Jesus came
to so that people
may have life and
have it more
abundantly.

6. III-THE PREACHING OF THE APOSTLES

Their primary role is to teach and testify of Jesus throughout the
world.
The genres or types of speeches found in the Acts are diverse,
consisting of missionary, evangelizing, indictment, defense,
farewell, constitutive, and political speeches.
(Approximately, there are twenty-eight speeches in Acts)
Paul the Missionary—careful and respectful in his speeches in
living out his mission
Paul the Skillful Orator— (17:22-31) centerpiece of the whole
episode of Paul’s time in Athens. He wishes to make the

Jesus saw Himself as a Spirit-
filled prophet whose mission
was to bring the reign of God
here and now.
The Reign of God summarizes
the life and ministry of Jesus.
CONCLUSION:

preach to the people and to
testify that he is the one
appointed by god to be judge
of the living and the dead.”
Acts 10:42
9. NO PERSON IS ONE-DIMENSIONAL
THERE ARE THREE VIEWS OF EVERY CHRISTIAN INDIVIDUAL
the view that
God has of us
the opinions that
others hold
concerning us
the perception
we have of
ourselves
Each of these is quite important
10. Genesis 1:27
God created man in his own
image, in the image of God
he created him; male and
female he created them.

11. James 4:6 tells us that
“God opposes
the proud but
gives grace to
the humble.”
12. (LUKE 17:10)
If we only trust in our earthly resources, we will
inevitably be left with a sense of worth based on pride.
Jesus told us, “You
also, when you have
done everything you
were told to do,
should say, ‘We are
unworthy servants; we
have only done our
13. PSALM 16:2 Reminds us,
“I said to the Lord, ‘You
are my
Lord; apart from you I
have
no good thing.’”
Christians attain self-worth and esteem
by having a right relationship with God.
We can know we are valuable because
of the high price God paid for us through
the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.
14. Gospel-centered self-acceptance involves
knowing our strengths and weaknesses in the
context of a larger community. It is impossible to
know ourselves or to live with hope apart from
others.
Community reminds us that we need God’s love,
as well as the support and encouragement of
other people, to live with buoyancy.

15. VARIOUS FACTORS BELIEVED TO INFLUENCE
OUR SELF-ESTEEM INCLUDE:
Reaction of others
Personality Life Experience Age
Health Thoughts
Genetics
Comparing self
to others
16. Self-confidence is based more on
external measures of success and value
than the internal measures that
contribute to self-esteem.
16
Self-esteem is not self-confidence
self-confidence is about your trust in
yourself and your ability to deal with
challenges, solve problems, and
engage successfully with the world
(Burton, 2015).
SELF-ESTEEM VS. SELF-
CONFIDENCE
One can have high self-confidence,
particularly in a certain area or field, but still
lack a healthy sense of overall value or
self-esteem.
21. Do not be conformed to
this world, but be
transformed by the
renewal of your mind,
that by testing you may
discern what is the will
of God, what is good
and acceptable and
perfect.
Romans 12:2

Editor's Notes
To be just is to be in right relationship with God, with oneself, with one’s neighbor, and with creation as a whole.
What is peace for Jesus?
The Reign of God is a kingdom of joy and delight. The Messiah has come to deliver His people.
This does not mean that Christians should have low self-esteem. I
t only means that our sense of being a good person should not depend on what we do, but rather on who we are in Christ.
We need to humble ourselves before Him, and He will honor us.
Ayn Rand was a famous Russian-American novelist, philosopher, and screenwriter.
