3. • INTRODUCTION.
• “ LPG GAS LEAKAGE DETECTOR SYSTEM ” is a real life
problem solving project.
• LPG leakage detection system which help in our security and make
our home and kitchen safe from the LPG leakage system. It is more
beneficial when the principal is applied in industries, nuclear power
plant, and in mining.
• By using this system we can come with an outcome of Leakage of
gas that will save life by simply alerting about future damage to our
surroundings or environment.
4. • AIM
✓ A gas detector is a device that detects the presence of gases in an
area, often as part of a safety system where security is an important
issue.
✓ Gas detectors can be used to detect combustible, flammable and
toxic gases, and oxygen depletion.
✓ This type of device is used widely in industry and home.
✓ Our aim is to make a very accurate and cheap sensor which gives
the precise readings and alerts the user.
5. • PRINCIPAL
• This system can detect easily the gas in the surrounding.When LPG
gas leakage sensed, it will give a HIGH pulse on its DO pin and
Arduino constantly reads its DO pin.
• When Arduino receives a HIGH pulse from the LPG Gas sensor
module it displays the“ Alert” message on 16x2 LCD and stimulates
buzzer which beeps.
• These sensor usually employ an audible alarm to alert people when
dangerous gas has been detected.
• The total circuit units are arranged on breadboard.
6. • PROBLEM DEFINATION
✓ Gas leakage leads to various accidents resulting in both material
loss and human injuries.
✓ After the effects of harmful gases on human health were discovered
gas leak detection methods became a concern.

9. • AURDINO UNO
An Efficient and smooth working micro
controller is needed to continuously sense both
leakage and level of the gas and also fast
response is required when leakage found.
✓ Arduino is an open-source electronics
platform based on easy to-use hardware and
software.
✓ Arduino boards are able to read inputs –
signals of a sensor and turn it into an output –
turning on an LED. It has 14 Input/Output
pins. A jack to supply Power.
10. • MQ2 GAS SENSOR
✓The LPG gas consist of isobutene, propane,
methane, carbon monoxide etc. A sensitive
efficient gas sensor is required that senses
hazardous gases.
✓High sensitivity to Propane,Butane & LPG
✓The sensor could be used to detect different
combustible gases, it is low cost and suitable for
different applications it senses the leakage of lpg
gas and sends the alert signals to the
microcontroller alternatively turn on buzzer when
it reaches to the threshold value.
11. • LCD DISPLAY
✓ It is necessary requirement to put a display
about system monitoring and controlling
performance which displays the alert message.
✓ Additionally the system also displays the
action carried out. For the work of displaying
the alert message liquid crystal display (LCD)
of 16*2 characters operating of +5v supply and
operated 4bit mode is implemented.
12. • BUZZER
✓ A buzzer or beeper is a signaling
device, usually electronic, typically used in
automobiles and household appliances.
✓ It is an audible alarm for alerting the
surrounding people.
13. • WORKING OF CIRCUIT
✓ Our idea is to make a very accurate and cheap detector which gives the precise
readings, we have interfaced MQ2 gas sensor with Arduino.
✓ Module MQ2 detects the gas leakage. Along with the Arduino board we have
interfaced buzzer. The basic concept is as soon as gas leakage is sensed & the buzzer
goes on with the sound of beep.
✓ If somebody is away from the point of leakage of gas it will alert the person from
disastrous.
✓ Along with we have interfaced 16*2 LCD with data pins, this LCD is used for
displaying the status of gas leakage. This is useful for those who are deaf.

15. • CONCLUSION
This monitoring and detection system is proposed mainly to meet the safety
standards and to avoid fire accidents because of gas leakage.
An embedded system for hazardous gas detection has been implemented. Here we
have detected some gases for demo purpose. This system can be implemented for
detecting various gases either in domestic area such as places of educational
institutions, residential and industrial areas which avoids endangering of human
lives.
This system provides quick response rate and the diffusion of the critical situation
can be made faster than the manual methods.

• In Gas Industries as this is a sensitive
system, it can be used on pipes through
which gases are transferred.
• In Manicipal gas distribution where a
small leakage can be prove fatal.
• In nuclear power plant to protect our
environment from various mixture of
toxic gases.
• So to avoid such exposure incidents in our home
we should use to protect our family.
• It can be used in coal or mining
industries where the hazardous
gas get expose to environment.

The PBL Project helped me to boost my
Learning capacity, l improved my knowledge, It
help me to develope my extra curriculum
activity.
It really developed my presentation working skills.
While doing so i enjoyed the time span spent on
my project, it enriched my overall skills .
