Joel Cahen is CEO of the Jewish Historical Museum(JHM), in Amsterdam, since 2002. JHM is the leading institution for the recently coined Jewish Cultural Quarter of Amsterdam, a successful marketing concept for four institutions, the Jewish Historical Museum, the Portuguese Synagogue complex, the Hollandsche Schouwburg, Shoa Museum and Remembrance Center and the Children Museum of JHM. The Jewish Cultural Quarter covers the area of the former Jewish Neighborhood of Amsterdam, as it is still called: Mokum or the Jerusalem of the West.
