It is a facial and oral malformations that occur very
early in pregnancy, while the baby is developing
inside the mother. This separation often extends
beyond the base of the nose and includes the
bones of the upper jaw and/or upper gum.

Problems with genes passed down from 1 or
both parents, drugs, viruses, or other toxins
can all cause these birth defects is the primary
cause of cleft palate.
