Observations
According the pie chart, Pfizer’s value is greater than all
of its top competitors. However, there isn’t a large
difference between the four companies. Market
capitalization is the total market value of all of a
company’s outstanding shares measured in dollars.
Simplified, it is an estimation of the value of the
business. The value is calculated by multiplying the
number of outstanding shares by the current price of the
share.
Current Events
Event #1 (Domestic): Pfizer third-quarter profit beats estimates, oncology drugsshine
Pfizer reported higher earning than expected in their third quarter. This increase happened because of cost cutting and a lower
tax rate. It is expect that Pfizer will continue to improve though.“Saftlas raised his 12-month share-price target on Pfizer to
$35, from $33, saying the company will report data in coming months from trials of a number of promising experimental
drugs and from studies testing new uses ofits already marketed drugs.” I chose this article because it gives reasons for why
Pfizer will continue to improve in the long-term.

Event #2 (Global): Pfizer’s second UK INSPIRE site goes to Scotland
Four Scottish health boards have come togetherto become Pfizer’s second UK Inspire site. Inspire is a strategic network of
sites that are highly productive and effective in conducting clinical trials. “Under the Scottish programme, Pfizer and the
health boards will share expert knowledge and experience in research to help bring new medicines to patients in Scotland, the
UK and around the world, the partners said.” I chose this article because it shows how people are reaching out to Pfizer for
this program. This program will help Pfizer and everyone around the world, in the long-term.

Outlook
I believe that the next one to three years, the industry of health will only improve. In today’s world, health is
everything because no one just wants to die. There are many diseases, infections, viruses, and other medical
issues that don’t have a cure. The health care industry will continue to thrive, until something is made that cures
everything. As for Pfizer, I believe that they will become one of the dominant company’s in this industry. Their
current initiative for the pipeline with brings them to the next level for medicine. They are current focused on
creating and developing things for immunology and inflammation, oncology, cardiovascular and metabolic
diseases, neuroscience and pain, and vaccines. Over the past five years Pfizer has been growing in a positive
direction and it should continue to do so in the future.

Recommendation
I believe that Pfizer is a good investment and it should be bought. Pfizer is currently working on a pipeline of new drugs
that could be revolutionary. If these drugs are successfulthe stock price will stock price will sky rocket because they will
be the first in the market.
Liquidity refers to how fast an asset can be converted to cash. Pfizer experienced an increase in their current ratio over the
two-year period. Pfizer has a current ratio of 2.15 at the end of 2012. This means that it is considered a safe risk for
lenders granting short-term credit because if problems do come up, Pfizer will be able to pay off its debts quickly and
continue to function as a company.
Debt to equity ratio measures the degree to which the company is financed by borrowed funds that it must repay. The
company did not experience an increase or decrease over the two years. These ratios tell lenders and investors whether or
not it is a risky firm. However with a ratio of 1.29, Pfizer seems to be a considerably stable company.
Profit margin is the amount by which revenue from sales exceeds costs. Pfizer had a high increase in the profit margin
ratio over the period of two years. 0.25 is a huge profit margin. Pfizer makes about $0.25 per dollar of sales. Compared to
most companies, this is a profit margin that is very large. It means that Pfizer will continue to have a health long-term
performance because it is making a lot of money from its sales.
The graph below shows that Pfizer has been increasing at a steady rate for the past 5 years. Over the past 3 years Pfizer’s
stock price has almost doubled. It is a health company that will make for a good investment.
