2. EXS Energy Exchange Stations
Key Components
• District energy supply and return pipes from the building
penetration (interface with distribution system)
• Heat exchangers (usually two) to transfer heat to the
building’s hydronic space heating and domestic hot water
systems
• Controls to regulate the energy flow required to meet the
building’s energy demand and maintain return temperatures
• Energy meters to monitor the energy used by each customer
for billing and system optimization purposes
The CORIX EXS is flexible, providing solutions for district energy
systems based on the required load demand for each service
ranging from 0.5MW to 2MW.
Space Requirements
Energy transfer stations are found in various locations
throughout a district energy system and often in the same
mechanical room as the building’s heating and domestic hot
water system equipment. The CORIX EXS provides developers,
architects, and engineers with a pre-selected footprint for the
enclosed adjustable skid design to help maximize floor plan
efficiencies.
WHY CHOOSE A CORIX EXS ENERGY EXCHANGE STATION?
Pre-Engineered Design
Pre-designed and certified by a professional engineer, the CORIX
EXS is an off-the-shelf unit that comes ready to be installed
on-site, saving on design time, and lowering project costs.
One-Stop Solution
For maximum efficiency, CORIX delivers complete turnkey
packages that include the design, fabrication, testing, and
delivery of all units. Then, after installation, we continue to
provide support, offering one point of contact for customer
service, technical support, and replacement parts as required.
Sustainable
The CORIX EXS features an uncomplicated and service-friendly
design for economical, trouble-free, and long-term operation.
Efficient, flexible, sustainable, and cost-effective,
district energy systems represent one answer to the
world’s energy challenges. CORIX is helping advance
this solution, with more than 50 years of experience
designing, manufacturing, installing, and servicing
packaged systems and energy transfer stations for
residential and commercial buildings.
WHAT IS A CORIX EXS ENERGY EXCHANGE STATION?
The CORIX EXS is a pre-engineered energy transfer station that
is factory tested and shop-assembled with all mechanical
systems including heat exchangers, valves, appurtenances,
piping, and instrumentation.
Our team works with clients on standardized solutions based on
design loads and capabilities to support multiple system
applications.
3. Efficient
Conducting work in a controlled environment minimizes the
need to build on-site, resulting in faster delivery times, fewer
disturbances to the natural environment, and minimal disruption
to your business. Compared to on-site construction, our
standardized units deliver maximum economic value and return
on investment, often resulting in solid capital cost savings.
Quality Components
CORIX designs and installs all the pipes, heat exchangers,
associated controls, and energy meters to interface with the
building heating systems. To do this, we use only quality products
that meet and exceed the highest industry standards (AWWA,
NFPA, CSA, and NSF). In addition, we can access raw materials
much faster than the typical four to seven weeks, for improved
project delivery times.
Easy to Install
The CORIX EXS is mounted on a structural skid and frame
platform for easy installation on site. Safe to lift from various
points, units are ready for installation upon arrival with minimal
field work.
Quality Construction and Performance
Our units are manufactured at our state-of-the-art facility, where
our in-house engineering and manufacturing teams ensure
optimum system performance. CORIX is also COR certified and
complies with all relevant North American construction codes
and standards, including:
• American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC)
• American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
• American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
• American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
• American Welding Society (AWS)
• BC Safety Authority (BCSA)
• Codes and Standards Group (CSA)
• National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA)
• Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB)
• Thermal Insulation Association of Canada (TIAC)
Every unit is designed to conform to current seismic standards
and is backed by CORIX’s standard one-year warranty on parts
and workmanship.
