The Marketplace - June 19th, 12:30-13:00 On 1 January 2015 a new EU VAT directive governing Internet sales will be introduced. This directive changes how Vat is calculated and paid by eService merchants. Although this is good news for European governments, it could prove to be an administrative nightmare for e-businesses across the world with customers in the EU. From January 1, every eService provider selling to a European consumer needs to determine the location of their customer and charge the Vat rate of the country of the customer. Failure to comply could lead to serious penalties from all 28 states in the EU.
