2. Dear Colleague,
The electric power supply can be seen as one of the key enablers for new automotive technologies. Lower
weight, higher efficiency and better reliability are major demands on new supply systems. Here the new 48 V
voltage level will be a major step forward. It will create interesting benefits for new automobiles - not only the
often mentioned mild hybrid solutions or advanced climate systems can be realized.
Nevertheless, many of us might be reminded of the 42 V hype more than 10 years ago where interesting ideas
vanished silently. The time was not right; light bulbs depend on 12 V; voltage conversion seems to be too com-
plex. Now, the situation has changed significantly. Light bulbs are more or less substituted by LED techniques;
voltage converters became standard with HEV and EV. CO2 reduction demands and new comfort functions
force the OEM to move towards 48 V.
The conference will provide an excellent overview of the general advantages, the required changes in the
power supply system and provide solution strategies to overcome the accompanying problems.
During the conference the key 48 V components and complete system architectures will be discussed. You will
hear about new climate control systems, batteries and cable harnesses to mention only a few. Also, the accom-
panying problems will be discussed intensively. Experts will report on EMC strategies and how simulation can
help with the optimization of 48 V systems.
At this conference we seek to explore and discuss all issues linked to the new voltage level. I am very
pleased that so many prestigious companies have agreed to present their approaches and share their knowl-
edge at this conference.
We hope you can join us in Frankfurt and explore the interesting and significant topics at the first event of this
nature.
Best regards
