4. DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH: I work in the field of cancer therapeutics, where we discover and
develop small molecule cancer drugs for emerging biological targets. My first project involved
the development of an inhibitor of a currently undrugged epigenetic target, PRMT5.This work
has led to a collaboration with a major pharmaceutical company to advance these potential
drugs. It really is a privilege to be involved in research that has the capability of changing lives!

12. DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH: Our modern world depends on catalysis to form new materials,
pharmaceuticals, and polymers. Many of the complexes that we rely on contain expensive
transition metal elements. My goal is to discover cheaper main group compounds that can
facilitate these chemical transformations. My research involves synthesizing new, low-valent
main group species and using them to activate small molecules.
