1. What's he like?
Rebecca and Melinda are in a coffee shop talking about Steve, a young man that Melinda has just
met.
“Is he tall and handsome?” Asks Rebecca.
“Not only is he tall and handsome, he’s also very intelligent”, replies Melinda.
“Is he blond?” Asks Rebecca.
“No, he has brown hair.”
“And blue eyes?”
“No. He has brown eyes”, replies Melinda.
“How old is he?”
“He is in his mid-twenties.”
“But you don’t seem to be too happy about him” says Rebecca.
“Well, there is a problem: his best friend”, answers Melinda.
“What about him? Is he ugly?” asks Rebecca.
“No, he isn’t ugly. He’s very boring and a pain in the neck”, says Melinda.
“Well, he is probably afraid that you are going to take his best friend away”, says Rebecca. “You
said he wasn’t ugly. Is he short?”
“No, he’s average height, a bit too slim for my taste. In his late twenties.”
“Dark haired?”, asked Rebecca.
“No. He’s blond with curly hair and blue eyes.”
“Is he talkative?”
“Yes. He’s very talkative like you are.”
“But you said he’s boring”, says Rebecca.
“Yes, to me he’s boring because he only talks about films”, says Melinda.
“Oh, that sounds very interesting. What’s his name?”, asks Rebecca.
“Mike”, replies Melinda.
“Can you introduce Mike to me?”
“Yes, of course. I hope you like him and he leaves us alone.”
