3. Azure is licensed and regulated as a Personal Retirement Scheme by the Malta
Financial Services Authority (“MFSA”)
Azure is a defined contribution retirement scheme and is registered with Her
Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (“HMRC”) as a Recognised Overseas Pension
Scheme (“ROPS”) – HMRC ROPS List
As a ROPS Azure can accept transfers from any eligible pension arrangement
that someone holds, provided that domestic laws permit such transfers
It is permissible to transfer from the vast majority of UK registered personal or
occupational pension schemes

4. A ROPS is an international retirement scheme administered by a trustee in a
jurisdiction outside of the UK which meets certain criteria stipulated by HMRC
This enables an eligible ROPS to receive transfers from a UK registered pension
scheme without incurring an ‘unauthorised payment’ meaning there will be no
tax charge deducted from the transferring pension fund
A ROPS does not have to be established in the country where someone resides
or intends to retire. This means an individual can move their pension fund to
another jurisdiction and have retirement benefits paid to them in their country
of tax residence
Popular jurisdictions for ROPS are Malta and Gibraltar as their financial
services frameworks are based on the UK model
ICML are based in Malta and are licensed and regulated as retirement scheme
administrators and trustees

membership. The fee is determined by the chosen investment strategy and size of
the initial transfer or contribution. Each level of membership offers excellent
investment options, transparency, flexibility and value for money.

7. There are a number of scenarios whereby Azure (as a ROPS) should be beneficial to
receive the transfer of an individual’s pension(s):
Where a UK resident has built up a pension fund in a UK registered pension
scheme and is now resident in another country within the European Economic
Area (“EEA”), or intending to reside outside of the UK within the EEA, or
Where a UK resident leaves the UK to emigrate (or to retire abroad within the
EEA) having built up a pension fund in a UK registered pension scheme, or
When a non-UK national who has spent some time working in the UK and built
up benefits in a UK registered pension scheme decides to return to their home
country (within the EEA) with an expectation of then retiring there
A ROPS can receive transfers from UK occupational or personal pension schemes
and from both defined contribution and defined benefits pensions.

ICML is licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority ("MFSA”) to act as a
retirement scheme administrator to retirement schemes registered under the
Retirement Pensions Act, 2011
Additionally ICML is licensed by the MFSA to act as a trustee, provide fiduciary
services and to act as an administrator of private foundations
ICML was established in 2012 and is a subsidiary of I-Cap Group Ltd (“I-Cap
