Day 01, 2017
International Arrival in Lima
Arrive at Lima International Airport.
After proceeding through immigration, please collect your bags and continue through customs. A
representative of Journeys in Peru will be waiting in the arrivals hall to escort you to your driver/vehicle
for your transfer to your hotel. The journey time will take approximately 45 minutes, depending on local
traffic conditions.

Day 02, 2017
Lima / Cusco / Sacred Valley
Breakfast at the hotel.
At 06:30hs please meet your Journeys in Peru representative at the lobby for your private transfer to
Lima airport for your scheduled flight.
Flight LA 2027 from Lima to Cusco. Departure at 09:30hs / Arrival 11:00hs (Subject to change and
availability / non refundable)
Upon arrival in Cusco you will be met after luggage collection by the Journeys in Peru representative and
transferred to the Hotel in the Sacred Valley.
In the afternoon you will be transferred to the starting
point of your ATV (all-terrain vehicle) experience. From
Pumahuanca gorge, cross the farming communities of
Rumichaca, Palcaraqui and Pumahuanca. Accompanied
by scenic vistas, passing through native flora, continue
along to Chicon gorge from which we can see mountains
and glaciers. The route takes you on to the town of
Urubamba, archaeological ruins of the palace of Huayna
Capac, the traditional community of Chichubamba and its chicherias where locals brew maize beer.

Day 03, 2017
Sacred Valley
In the morning you will be transferred from your hotel to the
Sacred Valley dock, where we will join our rubber rafts for the
rafting experience. Following a safety and familiarization briefing
we will start our river run that lasts around 1.5 hours. On the river
you will enjoy a glimpse into behind the scenes of Andean life
where the scenery is great. There are 3 different sections on the
Urubamba River that are regularly visit, depending on weather
conditions and passengers experience of rafting.
In the afternoon experience The Peruvian Paso Way of Riding. A 2 - 3 hour
ride will give you the unique experience of riding the smoothest riding
horse in the world in one of the most fascinating regions of the Andes, the
Sacred Valley of the Incas.
There are many places to visit: the salt pans of Salinas, the old village of
Pichingote, the lively market town of Urubamba, or the wonderful
farmland and the Quechua communities of the valley, while becoming
familiar with our beautiful Peruvian Paso horses. The destination of each
tour depends on the weather conditions and the availability of the roads.
Day 04, 2017
Sacred Valley
At 09:30hs visit the town and market of Chinchero, a picturesque Indian village high up on the windswept
plains of Anta at 3762 meters above sea level and one of the twelve Andean communities that still keep
the traditional social structure and urban designs from Inca times. In Chinchero, the traditional pre-
Hispanic weaving techniques and natural dyes are an art form that has been revived and given the value
it deserves by Andean weavers who capture motifs from everyday life and their surrounding natural
environment.

A Picnic will be served for lunch.
On our way to Maras we will drive through a
patchwork of fields that blend into the vistas of the
snow-capped peaks of the Cordilleras Urubamba and
Vilcabamba. The colonial village of Maras was the
center of exploitation of the nearby salt pans dating
from pre-Columbian t imes. Today we can see locals
harvesting the mineral in much the same way as their
ancestors have been doing for the past 400 years.
Moray is a curious site with a group of terraces positioned in concentric circles. Apparently it was utilized
as an agricultural laboratory where many species of crops from different altitudes were brought to be
domesticated.
Dinner will be on your own.

Day 05, 2017
Sacred Valley / Machu Picchu
This morning after breakfast you will board the Vistadome at 07:00hs directly from the Rio Sagrado
Hotel, to km.104 on the Cusco – Machu Picchu railroad (starting point of the hike).
The Vistadome train has beautiful panoramic windows offering unsurpassed scenic views and
photographic opportunities as you enter the Inca's territory in search for Machu Picchu Citadel. With glass
surrounding them on all sides, passengers feel as if they are part of Peru's remarkable landscape.
We will start our trekking by visiting the Chachabamba
archaeological complex (2150m/7052ft), located very close
to the control point, to then embark upon an 8 km (5 miles)
ascending trail, which after four hours takes us to the
archaeological complex of Wiñaywayna (2650m/8692ft). This
is an impressive complex made up of an agricultural center
with numerous terraces, a religious sector and an urban
sector.
On the way up we may enjoy magnificent views of the Urubamba River valley and the Choquesuysuy
archaeological complex located on the other side of the river, and also of a beautiful waterfall located just
a few minutes away from Wiñaywayna.

We then continue and climb to Intipunku, or The Sun Gate.
This will take an hour of hiking along a trail of flat stones on
the edges of cliffs in highland jungle. From this fabulous spot,
we may contemplate the sacred citadel of Machupicchu.
From Intipunku we descend to Machupicchu and continue to
our hotel for check in.

Day 06, 2017
Machu Picchu / Cusco
Today you may rise early and enjoy the prospects of a walk through Machu Picchu at sunrise, something
which people of strong spirituality believe to be the highlight of a visit to Machu Picchu.
This morning, you will visit this unique Inca citadel and
its surrounding complexes on a private visit. Machu
Picchu stands 2,430 meters above sea-level, in the
middle of a tropical mountain forest, in an
extraordinarily beautiful setting. It was probably the
most amazing urban creation of the Inca Empire at its
height; its giant walls, terraces and ramps seem as if they
have been cut naturally in the continuous rock
escarpments. The natural setting, on the eastern slopes
of the Andes, encompasses the upper Amazon basin with
its rich diversity of flora and fauna.
Optional hike to Huayna Picchu, the mountain behind Machu Picchu. Entrances for this hike are limited
per day and have to be purchased in advance. Huayna Picchu opens in two shifts, 07:00hs and 10:00hs
(subject to availability). This hike is strenuous and recommended only for travelers comfortable with
heights and who have a good fitness level. A fair amount of climbing is required. Get fabulous views of
Machu Picchu from the top.

At 16:30hs you will board the bus to Aguas Calientes where you will
take the Vistadome train to Cusco.
Train departs at 17:23hs. Snacks and hot & cold beverages are
served during the journey.
Arrival in Cusco at 20:50hs, transfer from Poroy train station to the
Hotel.

Day 07, 2017
Cusco
At 09:30hs you will embark on a fascinating tour of the city of
C usco. Discover the fascinating heritage of the once mighty
capital of the Inca Empire. Our visits include the temple
Koricancha (temple of the Sun) whose walls were once lined
with solid gold and the Cathedral which contains over 400
paintings of the classical Cusqueña schools. We will then head
up to the hills overlooking the city to visit the spectacular
Sacsayhuaman fortress with its gargantuan boulders.
Afternoon at leisure in Cusco.

Cusco / Lima

tour of Lima, visiting downtown, the Plaza
Mayor, which has been declared a World
Heritage Site by UNESCO. Pass by the
Cathedral, with its splendid carved stalls, the
Government Palace, the City Hall and the
Archbishop's Palace. Continue sightseeing
through the residential districts of San Isidro
and Miraflores. Continue to your hotel.
