COMMUNITY CLEANUP AUTOMOTIVE, TIRES & BUILDING MATERIALS RECYCLING EVENT On Saturday, June 1, the City of Temple, Keep Temple Beautiful, Habitat for Humanity and Temple Iron & Metal will be partnering together to host a Community Cleanup Event. Residents living within the City limits are invited to participate. All recyclable items will be accepted at the Temple Service Center located at 3210 East Avenue H from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. Acceptable automotive recycling items include: used motor oil, used oil filters, antifreeze, automotive batteries, and used tires. Residents may bring up to 8 passenger tires. A $1.00 surcharge will be placed on each tire over the 8 tires limit. No tires on rims and no tires larger than 21.5-inch rim dimension. Habitat for Humanity’s Restore will be taking donations of building related materials, such as, doors, windows, hardware, sinks, toilets, plumbing and lighting fixtures, gently used furniture, and working appliances. They will also be able to provide donation slips for the donor’s contribution. Large roll-off dumpsters will be placed in various locations throughout the City to dispose of general household and yard clean up materials. No household hazardous waste will be accepted at this time. A special collection for household hazardous waste will be available on October 12. The location for the dumpsters placed throughout the city will be: • Corner of John Paul Jones & Nugent • Westwood Park across from Pirtle Elementary • Lakewood Ranch Club House • Waters Dairy Road Park • Mayborn Center at the deadend • Corener of Avenue C and MLK • Irvin between 9th & 11th • Lamar between 7th & 9th • Corner of Avenue C and 22nd This event is part of Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup, the nation’s largest community involvement program that takes place annually.
