behind him, having scored 7,696 runs for Australia
in 105 Test matches. Langer, a left-handed batsman,

Scorchers and Western Australia.

Justin Langer has
replaced Darren
Lehmann as the coach
of the national cricket
team for Australia. The
news was announced
in early May 2018,
following Lehmann’s
resignation. Lehmann
resigned after the
controversial ball-
tampering scandal
of March, although
he played no part in
the plot.

3. Spokesman for Cricket Australia
James Sutherland commented that
the plan to replace Lehmann with
Langer had been in place for some
time, based in Lehmann’s original
intention to step down following the
2019 Ashes in England. Sutherland
further commented that Langer’s
recent player development and
coaching achievements had made
him a clear stand-out for the role.
Lehmann was not
the only individual
to stand down or be
suspended following
the ball-tampering
scandal.
