A poem dedicated to Nigerians

1. GREEN
Stealing a glance for decade
On a nation, with two green stripes, on its flag
Men tyrannize treasures, like wild cats
I could see green in their eyes, eyes that spark patriotism, and I shiver
Women walk like lioness, protecting the green land, while I thought of invading
This mortalized my being, and made the white cap on my head lose it balance
But what terrified me more, is the big grin on their faces
Did they notice my presence? I asked myself
Because if they do, then the big grin wasn’t a sign of submission
But a sign of strength, and warnings to raiders
Like rainbow, they live colourful,
Petroleum, the fragrance of their land, holistically, they are called Nigerians,
Giants of Africa, that foils and toils to protect, its natural resources
Making amalgamation, last forever
They are indivisible, the more you tear them, they fall forward with a bond
Which has made owning Nigeria more difficult, now I fear
Owning her, might lead to loosing me
They are green and free from ownership,
And eventually, I will wake up from this unachievable dream of owning Nigeria
