This document provides an overview of the individual and group skills that defensive backs (DBs) must learn to effectively execute a base defense. It outlines over 40 individual skills across running and passing situations that DBs must master, as well as 11 group segments needed to prepare DBs for game situations. These skills and drills are presented sequentially to teach DBs how to prevent long gains and touchdowns as the last line of defense. The document emphasizes learning and coaching these fundamental techniques to properly prepare DBs for their critical role in the defense.
