who use this pond
(average 6 per
household) and the total
reach is approximately
120 people
• Almost all of the people in
the area are engaged in
agriculture and coffee as
the main product they
produce.
• They also grow false
banana which serve as a
stable food for the
community.

4. • The coverage of clean drinking water in the Dumerso village is
minimal. The majority of the farmers get their water from either
pond or river.
• When the pond dries and the community is forced to travel 30
minutes to get water from a river.
• Both pond and river are known to be dirty and the people who
use it are exposed to various diseases.

5. • Due to the uncleanness of the water they drink, the people in the
community, mainly children, are suffering from diseases caused
by bacteria.
• As a result, mostly they get sick and are forced to travel to Dilla
Town to get treatment at Hospital level. It takes more than an
hour by bus to get there.

them to be more productive.

The news has spread in surrounding communities and others
