Since April 2006 Enel controls 66% of Slovenské elektrárne, in terms of available installed capacity the largest power generating company in Slovakia and the second largest in Central and Eastern Europe. It has 5,739 MWe of gross capacity (December 31, 2011) in an ideal production mix of nuclear, hydro, fossil and re-newable sources. It operates 34 hydroelectric, 2 nuclear, 2 thermoelectric and 2 photovoltaic plants. In 2012, the Company generated over 89 % of electricity without greenhouse gas emissions – thanks to hydro and nuclear energy.
