Adding additional rules plays against trust. The more rules that leaders impose on their employees can tell the group members that the leaders don’t believe in their ability to make judgments. Employees that trust their leaders are willing to go the extra mile for them. They take on extra duties because it helps the team. If there is no trust members may be more inclined to just do the bear minimum. Members will no longer accept the additional duties that they would normally do. While leaders may think that the additional controls will help maintain their effective group, it really causes the team to come apart. With the lack of trust, communication will suffer.
