Fusion Training - Contractor 2014
Our Intention/Goal for todays training is to ….
establish expectations
provide clear guidelines for document control
ultimately prevent risk
These are areas we really want to focus on in establishing clear and defined expectations.
Just recently came up,
Any requests that are needed for construction/release dates of less than 5 days, please note that in the subject line so we can address priority the best we can.
Three areas to focus on in establishing clear and defined expectations.
For example, A Transformer replacement in 2 phases - each phase will get it’s own case ID, as will the Electrical design package and the Civil design package. These need to be defined by the Engineer.
We will not be processing files individually.
Each drawing revision must be provided separately. To preserve revision history in Fusion, we need to enter the files in by revision. If revision 18 comes back to us as revision 21, we would have to manually manipulate the system to process this, negating the integrity of the system. SO we need revision 19 through 21 as separate files.
Fusion - Document Management Platform Web based software, customized for PHI, has it’s own server
FileNET - PHI wide database, linked to four large servers that support various departments, including accounting.
AutoVue – separate software, integrated with Fusion to be the Viewing function within Fusion, also has it’s own Oracle server.
Microstation – linked to Fusion as the default software that allows Fusion to open a drawing.
FUSION OVERVIEW
Document Management Platform – In it’s simplest form,
Web based software
Built on Filenet,
Store, reference, view, and print documents
Drawing revision control –
Every action within Fusion is stored with a data stamp of the user id, date, time, action, etc. For the most part, every document can be tracked from the moment it is loaded into Fusion. By establishing transparent accountability, potential for revision control risk is minimized. Ultimately we are working towards preventing revision conflict.
Project Lifecycle – There are project “workflows or cases” that can be created in Fusion, within which drawings can be grouped into and managed by the engineers.
Draft
Under Review
Issued for Construction
Released
As mentioned, Fusion is a web based application, so you can access it through a link in Internet Explorer.
There are different levels of security within Fusion, each with it’s own specific set of abilities
GENERAL USER (VIEWING ACCESS ONLY)
SEARCH, VIEW AND PRINT RELEASED SUBSTATION DRAWINGS
CREATE DRAWING LISTS IN FUSION
ENGINEER (WORKFLOW/CASE OWNER)
SEARCH, VIEW AND PRINT RELEASED, DRAFT, UNDER REVIEW AND ISSUED FOR CONTRUCTION SUBSTATION DRAWINGS
CREATE DRAWING LISTS
CREATE WORKFLOWS FOR DESIGN OR AS-BUILTING
DRAFTER (MODIFIES DRAWINGS)
SEARCH, VIEW AND PRINT DRAWINGS IN ANY LIFE CYCLE STATE IN FUSION
CREATE DRAWING LISTS
SEE ALL WORK IN PROGRESS DRAWINGS
INDEX NEW DRAWINGS
CHECK OUT, MODIFY AND CHECK IN DRAWINGS
For Todays training we will focus on the General User/Contract access level, but it is a good idea to understand what the other levels can do as well.
