1. Peacock Bride
A multi-level,beautiful,spaciousandwell-litstore withanequallybeautiful hostesstoshow youaround,
picking out exclusive designs from the latest collection for you. Once again I pretended to be a weary
Bengali bride-to-bewhoisexhausted and a bit overwhelmed with all the prep that goes in for a big fat
Indianwedding.Thistime Iwalkedinaskingforsomethingsuitabletoweartoa morningfunctiononthe
day of the wedding. It was to be a simple affair but I still needed to look like a bride and yet I wanted
something that was not red, heavy or too jazzy. On view for me were a number of elegantly cut long
skirtsdoublingupaslehengas and gorgeous crop tops shaped out of rich fabrics and with just the right
amount of detailing (work) on them. I had my heart set on a beautiful off white flare skirt with a
beautiful in-cut red pattern (design) running around the hem. I was told that the designs are not only
conceptualizedin house but that the printing took place in-house as well! I chose a navy blue crop top
(thatcoulddouble upas jacketfor otheroutfits) togowiththe skirt and to make it wedding worthy the
store offered to design an exclusive dupatta for me that would bring the whole look together. Of
course, all thiscame at a rather steepprice where Iwaslookingtopayabout 79 K forthe skirt (doubling
up as a Lehenga) and 35 K for the crop top with another 15K put together for the Dupatta. All of it
totaledupto a nifty1.3 Lacs excludingthe taxes.Foranonce-in-a-lifetime affair, I would put it down to
money well spent for a gorgeous outfit from the house of well-known designers Shane and Phalguni
Peacock.
The store houses a collection that is more for a cosmopolitan bride than a traditional one but the
elegance of the outfitscoupledwiththe beautifuldetailing is sure to make any bride-to-be swoon with
sheer delight.
