My students will also attest to the fact that I love going to art fairs to purchase jewelry that often
makes its way into my lessons. Reading in the backyard during summer months and attending
theater events are pastimes both my husband and I enjoy doing together.
I've been a teacher for 23 years at Grand Haven Christian School. This was the
first school I taught at after graduating from Calvin College. I feel so blessed
to be a part of a wonderful staff and to be surrounded by supporting, loving
families. Although I have a long commute, I wouldn't consider teaching
anywhere else! When I'm not at school I love to plant flowers and care for
them in our yard, attend art festivals and fairs, and go to the theater. I also love
reading and going out for dinner. My husband's name is Doug. He works for
Macatawa Technology. It has come in quite handy to be married to a
"techie". One of passions is riding his bicycle. In previous summers, he rode
across the state of Iowa as part of RAGBRAI. When he's not cycling he also
loves to work on his laptop, read, and watch science fiction shows.

The following are our four current “children” who where preceded by two to others who passed
on:
Lloyd. Lloyd was a Maine Coone cat, which basically is short
for "cat the size of a small fox". He was very impressive and
weighed 28 pounds at the time of his death. He was our gentle
giant who never passed up a good belly rub or opportunity to
lay with Doug on the couch. He even came each time he was
called. Doug believes he was really a dog trapped in a cat's
body. Lloyd passed away suddenly during the 2007-2008
school year. He had a heart condition called
cardiomyopathy. He continues to be greatly missed.
The second kitty who is no long with us is Zoey aka Zoey
Bear. She loved getting into everything and play fighting
with her sister, Gretel. We used to refer to that time as
"smack down" because they'd really get into it. My favorite
memory of Zoey was bedtime. Each night when I would go to
bed, Zoey would come along and lay above my head on my
pillow. She certainly was a toasty companion in the
winter. 2007-2008 was a year of much sadness as Zoey
passed away approximately 6 weeks after Lloyd. We believe
she died from lymphoma.

Integration of Faith in the Classroom:
Teaching from a Christian perspective is a responsibility and blessing. My faith must permeate the
way I instruct my students. It is my responsibility to show them that God is alive in all of creation.
God has created the Bible, math, social studies, science, and language arts. God has His
fingerprints over everything. We are detectives that must stop and take notice of how He made an
impact.
It is a blessing to guide each of my students to discover their God given gifts, talents, and interests.
As I strive to connect to each one of my students, I learn the unique ways God has created their
minds to operate. This allows me to shape my teaching to meet their understanding. Building
relationships of trust with each one of my children allows me to guide them in their understanding
of God and how He is speaking to them.

Kirsten Terborg's third-grade class at Grand Haven Christian School is the Classroom of the Week.
Fun Fact:
I played the part of Lucy in a elementary production of “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”
when I was in 3rd grade. My favorite line that I can still remember saying was, “Charlie Brown,
don’t be so wishy-washy!” P.S. I still have the little red dress that I wore!
