A toolkit of resources to prevent financial abuse through scamming. The resources are adapted from Age UK and the Met Police. Social Workers, nurses, housing workers, community police and those working in financial safeguarding can use these slides as a reminder of resources available.
2. This is a toolkit adapted from Age UK and the Metropolitan Police
resources on Scams. It is an easy guide to supporting people to prevent
being subject to scamming. Social Workers, Housing Officers,
Safeguarding Leads and those working in aspects of financial protection
can print this toolkit two slides per page. Cut the slides out, place them
back to back and laminate them. This creates a handy key fob that you
can put in your bag or diary to have accessible information and resources
to prevent financial abuse.

• do not let anyone in your house without a trusted
person to support you
• Put up a deterrent sign
• Check ID
• Find the company in the phonebook and ring them
• Check that they are a registered company with
trading standards
• A neighbour / family member to be a nominated
person
• The utility companies to set up a secret password
for doorstep calls. Phone your utility company to
find out how to do this.
• Mind that you do not ever give out your pin
number or give someone your cashpoint card
• Be mindful that legitimate callers would not put
pressure on you or seek immediate payment
• Share your concerns with others and contact the
Police if you are worried
