Program Performance Report Through March
2013, almost 1.6 million homeowners have
received help through federal mortgage and
housing initiatives. Of those, 1.1 million
reduced their monthly mortgage liabilities
through HAMP. Overall, the reductions have
saved just over $19 billion for homeowners
throughout the United States.

Further, the report breaks down HAMP
activity by state, which provides an
impression of the housing crisis's impact by
location. California, Arizona, Illinois, New
York, and Florida each reported more than
35,000 HAMP modifications, while states like
Texas and Nevada reported between 20,000
and 35,000 such modifications. David Zak’s
home state of Massachusetts had about
22,000 reports.
