David spent three years in an Ashram, which proved to be a formative period of his life. Grateful for the experience, David believes this time provided him with a sense of self that has served him well in his business ventures. In 1996, he was offered a job as a designer with the Department of Premier and Cabinet within the Victorian Government and helped build prominent politicians' websites, such as then Premier's Jeff Kennett and his deputy's, Alan Stockdale. Although it was his first introduction to the web, David quickly learned about content management systems (CMS) and recognised the potential they held.
