Deafblind Intervener
The Deafblind Intervener Certificate
Program promotes best practices in the
field of deafblindness and is offered in
advance of proposed federal legislation
to make this training mandatory. This
12-credit program, one of only two in
the nation, prepares students to earn
the national credential for interveners
through the National Resource Center
for Paraprofessionals (NRC Para).

understand it easily.
It’s been a busy
summer at
CMU!
New Center
The Auburn Hills and Troy Centers have consolidated into a new
location at 900 Tower Drive in Troy. An Open House is being planned
for prospective transfer students, and we will be extending the
invitation to our community college colleagues as well. We look
forward to seeing you at the new center.
Changes in Biology Coursework
In the fall of 2016, the biology department faculty rolled out a set of five new core courses for all Biology
majors. These courses are designed to provide students with the key concepts and skills in biology as
outlined by the Vision and Change document produced by leading biologists and educators from across
the country. This common set of core classes for all Biology students will provide a strong foundation
in basic biological concepts through hands-on experimental learning and emphasize the development
of critical thinking and communication skills. After completing the core courses, students can choose
from our four biology majors and take a diverse array of specialty classes in preparation for research,
educational, and healthcare-related careers. Updated Transfer Curriculum Guides for Biology majors are
available online at http://cmich.edu/transfer under“What will transfer?”
