1. Our FlightWorks team has accomplished some awesome tasks over the past few weeks, and I want to
share their hard work with you.
• Getting the two Beech 1900 home from Afghanistan required a carefully orchestrated effort.
We needed two pilots and a mechanic on each aircraft. Artiee Samples, Gari Pabon and Kevin
Carrell flew N60MJ home while Gio Atiles Garcia, Vince Natali and Mark Maniscalco flew
N218YV. The arrival of the two aircraft at KHEF were staggered by two weeks to allow in-house
maintenance ample time to prepare each aircraft for redelivery.
Gary did a great job of keeping the communication flowing between Corporate, Rockwell Collins
and the crew en route for N60MJ and N218YV from OAIX-HEF. Victoria Wissman and Chris
worked together with flight planning. The crews of N218YV and N60MJ handled weather delays,
routing changes due to permits and maintenance delays while bringing the aircraft from OAIX-
KHEF. Chris Lowe gave up his weekend and Gary Babcock rearranged his schedule to fly N60MJ
to PVU for the redelivery.
• Over the past few weeks, Kevin Carrel, Mark Maniscalco, Lou Wilson, David Funk and Herman
Ferguson worked feverishly to get N60MJ through its redelivery inspections and returned to the
lessor. By doing the inspection in-house, these five guys directly saved Flightworks a lot of
additional expenses. Kevin and Mark came back with the two 1900’s after working their
rotation in Afghanistan and started immediately on these inspections. Lou Wilson is attending
class in VA and drove up on the weekends to lend a hand to ensure this aircraft got finished as
soon as possible. In addition to taking care of the existing Manassas based aircraft, David Funk
and Herman Ferguson spent hours working on N60MJ. Maintenance Control received over 80
parts request in a short amount of time and did a fantastic job to ensure all of the parts were
delivered in a timely manner and did not negatively impact the completion date. The
professionalism and teamwork of all these individuals was why the lease return was such a
success. I am confident that we will have as the same success on N218YV as we did on N60MJ.
Great job by all who played a part in this success!
• As of Friday 3/27 a long awaited integration was finally put into production. This custom piece of
software moves data between FOS and Intacct with just a few clicks and eliminates the necessity
for our accounting department re-enter over 1,200 transactions a month between the two
systems. With the integration in place, we are able to allow the Accounting Department to work
more efficiently and spend time on more value added tasks rather than mundane data entry.
With enhanced focus on reconciliation and accuracy, we are also able to improve the quality of
our overall service delivery to our customers and aircraft owners. We also have plans to expand
this platform to include more than just accounts payable transaction. By automating the import
of statistical data such as fuel uplifts, flight time, aircraft utilization and other data points, we
can make better and better decisions and give FlightWorks a competitive advantage. There is
also an opportunity to automate the charter invoice process which is partly paper based today.
Great job team. Your efforts and hard works are very much appreciated!
