TomoMobile™
Relocatable radiation therapy
State-of-the-art care, closer to home
The TomoMobile solution eases access to TomoTherapySM
treatment quality for cancer patients
who may have to travel hundreds of miles for the right treatment option. The solution consists
of a standard TomoTherapy® radiation therapy system—capable of treating the most common
to highly complex cases—housed in a custom-designed movable coach that replicates the
environment of a conventional treatment vault.
A faster time to revenue—and results
Traditionally, new construction and replacement of older linear accelerators can take more than
six months, delaying the ability to treat patients. The integrated mobile unit enables cancer
centers and clinics to begin treating during construction of a new facility, in advance of system
installation, to alleviate temporary backlogs or for a permanent placement in centers that are
unable to expand their facility.
Reduced costs, advanced care
As an easy-to-implement option, the TomoMobile relocatable radiation therapy solution can
reduce the need for costly renovations and new construction. Hospital networks can invest in
a single system that is shared among outlying clinics, each benefitting from the integrated nature
of the TomoTherapy platform.
TomoTherapy is proud to introduce the industry’s first
relocatable radiation therapy solution—TomoMobile—
which is designed to improve access and availability of
cutting-edge radiation therapy solutions.

Relocatable radiation therapy
Integration is everything
TomoTherapy treatment systems—both Hi·Art® and TomoHD™—are ideally suited for
placement in a mobile or relocatable environment because of a compact profile that integrates
imaging and delivery systems into a single, enclosed unit.
The ring gantry design of the TomoTherapy system offers the same look and similar footprint
of traditional computed tomography (CT) scanners, which are often deployed as mobile
units. In addition, because of the TomoTherapy unit’s standard integral primary beam stop
and extensive radiation head shielding, radiation leakage is reduced so that the further
shielding required in the trailer is transportable.
In addition to all necessary shielding, the TomoMobile relocatable radiation therapy solution
includes:

A keep-out safety distance for the general public has
been recommended at 30 feet from isocenter. Additional
shielding may be required based on occupancy, specific
site configurations, and local regulatory requirements.
Radiation survey data is available to develop a customized
site plan. Modified shielding solutions are easily achieved
with additional barriers to meet specific needs.
