This is NOT a to do list for
next week.
It is an outline to be
developed over the course
of a lifetime.
Outline for a Lifetime of
Servant Leadership
1. Is committed to developing habits that will
improve his leadership.
2. Has a personal board of directors that keep him on
track.
3. Rejects passivity as an unworthy philosophy of life.
4. Accepts responsibility for himself, his team, and his
family.
5. Has honest conversations with his team about
their performance.
Outline for a Lifetime of
Servant Leadership
6. Genuinely seeks the betterment of those around
him.
7. Chooses to care about people and gets to know his
team.
8. Casts vision constantly .
9. Takes time to teach others knowing that he once
also needed help.
10. Includes his team on envisioning the future.
Outline for a Lifetime of
Servant Leadership
11. Consults with his team on all major decisions.
12. Seeks to empower others by using the Socratic
method of teaching and interaction.
13. Remembers where he came from and displays an
attitude of humility before his team and peers.
14. Deflects credit to his team instead of claiming it
for himself.
15. Extends a helping hand to others believing that
people matter.

Servant Leadership
16. Asks himself hard questions in order to be self
aware and ultimately self-actualize.
17. Is open to criticism and is not threatened by the
commentary of others on his performance.
18. Believes that serving others is the way to get
ahead.
19. Gives people the benefit of the doubt.
20. Invests in people for the long term, instead of
using them in the short term.
