Librarium
The Librarium is the world center of knowledge and study of the science. The people of the
Librarium value knowledge above all else. Because of this the country has a vice grip on the
flow of knowledge and what or who leaves the country. The people wear victorian style
clothing much like their brothers in Foundry to the north, but frown on wearing clockwork items
as jewelry. The younger generation of the Librarium fantasizes about what to do with their
knowledge rather than attaining more of it as culture likes to dictate. In theory the Librarium is
several years ahead of the rest of the world, but because they pursue knowledge rather than
apply it they have little in the way of physical exports. Due to their focus on knowledge, The
Librarium’s military power is lacking, so they receive aid from Brandus in exchange for new

and alchemy in the world. They are most notably known for the marvels of science, the
unjudged. The unjudged are individuals whose bodies are more than 80% machine. Their
name comes from the state in which they avoid death thereby avoiding the judgement of God.
Zeal is a socialist republic that strives to remove all class from society. However the

Landmarks of the world
Factions
● Foundry
○ The Protectorate (freelance steam knights) The Protectorate of Foundry is a
privately owned group of mercenary knights who take on jobs “for the greater
good” they typically do escort missions, bodyguarding, and security work.
There are always a few bad apples though.
○ Top Hat (largest steam punk gang) Top Hat usually engages in works of
mischief that are usually harmless such as graffiti, causing devices to
malfunction in hilarious ways, and creating inventions that make harmless fun
easier. They are not malicious by any means but they’re not against getting
back at people.
○ Inventors Guild The guild is a place of commerce for inventors to share their
ideas and meet up to work together on new projects. Many vendors pay the
guild to allow them to sell their wares as well, independent admission to the
guild is free but usually an invention of some sort must be contributed to the
guild library.
○ Engineers Alumni (high class club) The “higher class” of engineers coordinate
to work on large scale projects, or to apply for corporate contracts for their
services. To enter the Alumni one must graduate from one of the major
colleges of engineering with honors or present a marvel of modern engineering
and design to the board of directors. Even with honors it cost a large sum of
money to enter.

○ The Rune Knights (fanatical knights bent on spreading the word of Zeal around
the world) A government sanctioned group of knights that believe Zeal was
the first nation, and that in order for all other nations to avoid the disasters of
armageddon they must repent from their wicked (cultural) ways and join forces
with Zeal. Those who agree to follow the rune knights abandon their countries
and work on the bottom rung of Zealian society until they “prove their worth”
and are granted citizenship. This process can take decades.
● Magladesh
○ The Federation of Dragon Dancers (a collection of martial artists) Dragon
Dancers use a mixture of Capoeira and MuayThai to fight (some people call it
sand boxing) Talented and more traditional dragon dancers incorporate old
magic into their techniques. The federation is composed of a large number of
masters of the styles and congregate once a year to celebrate, spar, and
discuss new developments in their art. Joining requires invitation by one of the
presiding masters.
○ The Thaumaturgists guild The guild is a collection of individuals who
thoroughly enjoy studying the application of magic into modern technology (a
highly demanded skill) The guild requires a monthly fee but gives its members
complete access to their extensive library.
● Solaris
○ The Family (a large gang of drug dealers looking to expand) The mafia of
Solaris is known worldwide and feared for their ability to avoid legal
repercussions on a federal level. The only way to get into The Family is to
marry or be born into it.
○ The church of the sun (a small but devout religious organization) The church
is a beacon of light to those in Solaris who have rough lives or who are
oppressed by either the Ahman Mining co. or The Family. The church of the
sun believes that all humanity came from the light and will one day return to it
through good works, and faith. There are those within who let greed corrupt
them.
● Independent Factions
○ Blue Pirates (robin hood like sky pirates) The “good pirates” are more
adventurers than anything and believe in doing what they please so long as no
one is hurt in the process. They favor good times and good hearts over money
and hard labor.
○ Black Pirates (Sky Pirates who plunder and pillage indiscriminately) Black
pirates target precious metals, vox crystals, shells, and precious goods more
than anything.
○ The Seers (Eastern group of mages who theorize and venture to see all
possible futures) The seers are a nomadic old tribe with little influence from
and on the new world. They successfully see almost all futures, and know what
the world will make of itself before it happens. Few believe the accuracy of their
foretellings but there are those who know, believe and seek the highly elusive

Seers out to know what fate has in store for them. The Seers travel the deserts
of Magladesh, and are Magladeshi in origin, but are not confined to just one
nationality. They consist primarily of mages, runebearers, and scholars. A
handful of Dragon Dancers are among the Seers to protect them from monsters
and bandits.
State of the World
The world is in the midsts of a birth of a new age, one in which new technology is
created almost daily and humanity’s greatest threat is its own greed. Those profiting off of the
old methods of industry do all they can to quell the new methods that will save energy and
lose them money. Zeal is one of the greatest offenders in this not only because of potential
loss, but because they seek to control the world by being the leader in innovative technology.
The freelance democratic methods of foundry that foster creativity threatens Zeal’s stance
however. While open war has not been declared most countries are using underhanded
methods to agitate their unofficial enemies. This includes employing black pirates,
mercenaries, and arming other groups that aim to antagonize certain countries factions and
people. On the surface and in the news everything seems fine. The truth of the matter is there
are cold and proxy wars coming down on Foundry and Magladesh from Zeal. Brandus offers
aid to Magladesh to keep trade routes open with Solaris, the sister nation of Magladesh.
Magladesh is allied with Foundry, which the Librarium refuses to help given their tenuous
relationship. Thus Brandus aggravates their greatest ally, The Librarium, by aiding
Magladesh.
