2. About the university
The University is a co-educational,and it offers bachelor's, master's, and associate
degrees. The University has 3 university campuses and 7 community campuses,
along with a number of other research facilities.
Obama’s parents and half sister got their degrees here.
3. Sexual assault policy
The school, like others, has a strict policy against and sexual discrimination and
violence in a sexual manner.
“Sexual assault is prohibited by law and is a serious offense that violates the basic standards of behavior expected of
members of the university community. The university will not tolerate acts of sexual assault. This includes domestic
violence, dating violence, and stalking. The university will take appropriate action to prevent sexual assault and will correct
and discipline behavior that is found to violate this policy.” - University of Hawaii Website
4. Punishment
Punishment can be carried out based on how the school determines its severity.
Most of the time however it is common that the offender is dismissed from the
school.
The punishment goes further though the victim’s parents have the right to press
charges and seek further punishment.
The school says that they will take appropriate action.
5. Prevention
The school has put in a number of deterrents to try and stop any violent sexual
act.
The University is promoting safe and abuse free environments.
Like any other school, the university hands out strict punishment for any sexual
discrimination on campus.
6. Awareness
1 and 7 women in Hawaii have been victims of forcible rape.
575 domestic violence survivors seek help from local programs every day.
1 and 3 teens experience sexual abuse in the United States.
7. How to get help
Getting help is rather easy
There are multiple people on each campus that you can go to for help.
The School offers a course that trains their professors to help anyone who needs
it and wants it
The Dean of the school personally advertises his help.
8. Case on Campus
The University is advising that everyone be alert because of a female student
reporting she was given a date-rape drug.
It is the first incident reported of the use of a date-rape drug.
