elebrity status has its perks, but it can’t
protect you from life’s curveballs. The
very definition of a power couple, Giuli-
ana and Bill Rancic appear to have it all
– glamour, fame, wealth and each other.
However, in front of millions of fans, the
couple has openly shared their struggles with devastating issues,
including cancer and infertility, and the more ordinary yet challeng-
ing issues of making marriage and parenting work. The couple will
share their insights with a Beaumont audience next month as the
keynote speakers at the 2015 LiveWell Women’s Conference.

2. Opportunity for impact
The engagingly likeable couple
have been in the public eye for
more than a decade. Bill Rancic
was the first winner of NBC’s “The
Apprentice,” which also introduced
him to his wife, Giuliana. The E!
News anchor is a fan favorite to
millions who follow her on televi-
sion. Much of their personal lives
has been documented on their
reality show on E!, “Giuliana &
Bill,” which first aired in 2009 and
now has 89 episodes. According
to Bill, their celebrity status has
given the couple an opportunity to
make an impact in ways they didn’t
anticipate.
“After ‘The Apprentice,’ it was
exciting to inspire young people
to be entrepreneurs, but we’ve
now used our platform in ways we
didn’t imagine,” Bill said. “Sharing
our infertility issues in particular
was a tough choice. Seven years
ago, infertility wasn’t part of the
conversation in society. When we
learned that one-in-four couples

Bill Rancic
Giuliana was born in Naples, Italy. Her
parents immigrated to the United States
when she was a little girl. She earned a
bachelor’s degree in journalism from the
University of Maryland and a master’s
degree in journalism from American
University. She joined E! News as a cor-
respondent in 2002, becoming the solo
anchor and managing editor of the show
by 2005. She has won numerous awards,
including “Fan Favorite” at the 2014
Daytime Emmy Awards.
Bill grew up in Chicago and attended
Loyola University. An entrepreneur, Bill
got his big break when he was hired by
Donald Trump as the winner of the first
season of NBC’s “The Apprentice” in
2004. Giuliana grabbed the assignment
to interview the winner. Romantic sparks
flew immediately and soon the couple
were dating. They married in 2007. They
have one son, Duke, who was born in
2012.
Bill and Giuliana have expanded their
brand and their talents to many busi-
nesses and nonprofit endeavors. They
are published authors and motivational
speakers in addition to owning a chain of
restaurants. Giuliana also has a fashion
line and a wine brand. As philanthropists,
Giuliana created “Fab-U-Wish” to grant
wishes to women battling breast cancer
and Bill has made five trips to Haiti to
build homes for earthquake victims.
have difficulty conceiving, we

there. After two to three episodes,
people would come up and whis-
per thanks to us for showing our
struggle and share their own infer-
tility stories. People don’t whisper
anymore; they yell, because they
aren’t ashamed about infertility
now.”
Health fears
In the midst of their many fer-
tility disappointments, including
a miscarriage, the couple got more
devastating news: Giuliana was
diagnosed with breast cancer at
age 36. She underwent treatment
for the cancer and elected to have
a double mastectomy. Throughout
the experience, she was very can-
did with fans and viewers.
“With everything we’ve been
through, we’ve been able to
spread important information and
that’s what has been rewarding,”
Giuliana said. “My most important
takeaway from having cancer is
to seize life, enjoy life and don’t
sweat the small things.”
Holding Giuliana’s hands
through the crises, Bill learned
that you can’t plan a perfect life.
“That’s when God starts laugh-
ing at you,” he said. “I learned a
lot about my wife through this,
about how strong and brave she
is. The way she handled that crisis
inspired me. We’ve both realized
how strong our marriage is. We
know that together, there isn’t
much we can’t conquer. We are a

Marriage and parenthood
Eight years after saying their
vows, the couple remain commit-
ted to each other despite hectic
work schedules and health scares,
“Bill is my best friend,” Giuliana
said. For Bill, their synchronicity is
part of their strength. “We laugh,
cry and pray together,” he said.
“We have the same beliefs, values
and ethics. We think alike.”
Though they both work long
hours and often travel for work,
the center of their lives is their 2
1/2 –year-old son, Duke. The cou-
ple became parents with the help
of a surrogate. Both parents gush
over their boy and rate parenthood
as their most rewarding career. “I
love being a hands-on, active fa-
ther,” Bill said. “I get to do things
with Duke my parents couldn’t do
with me because they were both
working. Because Giuliana and I
have nontraditional jobs, our lives
have been very diverse. There’s no
such a thing as a routine day for us,
but we have one simple rule in our
house and that’s family first.”
Visit in Texas
Giuliana’s new autobiography,
“Going Off Script: How I Survived
a Crazy Childhood, Cancer, and
Clooney’s 32 On-Screen Rejec-
tions,” will be published on April
7, the same day as registration be-
gins for the LiveWell conference.
When they visit Southeast Texas,
Bill said their talk will show their
different perspectives about their
journey together. “You’re going to
laugh, you’re going to cry,” he said.
“You’re going to be inspired.
Giuliana said that having a
career in the entertainment indus-
try doesn’t mean it’s all amazing
clothes and red carpets. “Even
though we work in Hollywood, we
haven’t lost sight of who we are,”
Giuliana said. “I think people will
be surprised by how they will re-
late to us and see a lot themselves
in our story.” VIP
4. G on Glamour
A
s a co-star of the “Fashion Police” on E! and a fixture on the red
carpet for every mega-event in the entertainment industry, Giuliana
Rancic has become a fashion and beauty expert.
Do you feel pressure to be fabulously fashionable at all times?
No, I do my thing. I don’t mind if I’m worst- or best-dressed. On the week-
ends, it’s no makeup and very casual. Fashion is supposed to be fun and I
definitely just have fun.
Who are your favorite fashion designers for your wardrobe?
I love mixing and matching different designers at different price points. I
love affordable brands like Zara, TopShop and BCBG and also higher end
designers like Karen Millen, Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney and Valen-
tino. My favorite shoe designers are Christian Louboutin and Gianvito Rossi
– they have the most beautiful creations!
How do you choose your personal red carpet outfits?
I have a wonderful stylist, Monica Rose, who helps me select my looks for
the red carpet. We have been working together for a few years now and she
knows exactly what I love and what I feel comfortable in. We love to have
fun with color and pushing the envelope a bit. After so many years covering
the red carpet I have learned that you will never make the best dressed list
without taking some risks!
Do you prepare for red carpet interviews or is it all spontaneous?
I prepare a little bit. I definitely watch all the movies, but I don’t really
research the celebrity ahead of time aside from that. I think the best inter-
views are the ones that are organic and a little more spontaneous. No one
wants to listen to me recite memorized questions – especially the celebs!
Any favorite stars you like to catch on the red carpet?
I always love talking to George Clooney on the red carpet. I had a lot of fun
with him and his wife Amal at the Golden Globes this year. Let’s just say
there was tequila involved!
Any general fashion advice for women (or men)?
My number one piece of fashion advice is to dress age appropriately. It’s
never a good idea to dress like a 16-year-old when you’re 40 years old and
vice versa. VIP
