Mid Valley Disposal is committed to environmental stewardship, demonstrated by the
Company’s investment in local recycling infrastructure and facilities. We are one of the
few companies in California that owns and operates both a state-of-the-art recycling
sort line and an organics composting facility. As a company that provides recycling
services and promotes conservation, it is important that we also do our part to reduce
greenhouse gases and help build a healthy environment. Our new collection vehicles
are powered by natural gas, which makes us one of the largest alternative fuel fleets
in the Valley. With technology, alternative fuel vehicles, and community partnership,
we can achieve a higher level of sustainability today and for many years to come.

MVD’s Compost Facility not only
increases local diversion rates by keeping
food waste out of the landfills, but also
reduces greenhouse gases by using
advanced technology”
COMPOST
Mid Valley Disposal’s compost facility is capable of diverting up to 90,000 tons
from the landfill each year using the GORE Cover system. The system not only in-
creases local diversion rates by keeping food waste out of landfills, but also reduces
greenhouse gases by using advanced technology and monitoring. Utilizing a cover
made from GORETEX® material, the system has been proven to eliminate over
95% of VOC’s compared to traditional open row composting. The use of recycled
food waste as compost improves soil health and increases drought resistance. The
result is a valuable product for local growers which is also CDFA “Organic” certified.
6. We have found that a
“grass roots” approach is the best
way to help our diverse communities
achieve environmental sustainability”
Mid Valley Disposal employs a team of highly trained pub-
lic educators, dedicated to bring our service areas closer
to higher standards of sustainability. Our goal is to keep
our education consistent, simple, effective, and fun! Mid
Valley Disposal’s team is available for any event held by
clubs, schools, non-profit groups, individuals and organ-
izations within our communities to help keep the public
informed about the recent trends in recycling. We provide
an in depth look at how our recyclables and compostables
are sorted and processed from containers to the truck,
and all the way through our facilities. We have found that
a “grass roots” approach is the best way to help our di-
verse communities achieve environmental sustainability.
Community events are also a great opportunity for MVD
staff to provide educational resources to residents that
will guide them towards successful recycling, as well as
properly disposing of other types of materials, like hazard-
ous waste, electronics, and sharps.
