1. With Mother’s Day just passing and Fa-
ther’s Day approaching, we all struggle
with what to do and how to show ap-
preciation for our parents and/or loved
ones. Why not consider the gift of mo-
bility? Mobility outside the home is
necessary for accessing commodities,
making use of neighborhood facilities,
and participation in meaningful social
and physical activities. Mobility pro-
motes healthy aging as it relates to the
basic human need of physical move-
ment.
Mobility typically declines with increas-
ing age. We must remember, “Use it
or lose it” is definitely true for mobility
as we age.

contact you for pick up or

Another way to cope with
COPD is by starting oxygen
therapy. Your physician
may prescribe either noc-
turnal or continuous oxy-
gen depending on your
symptoms. Carolina
Homecare offers both
forms of therapies. What
can our staff do for you?
Carolina Homecare em-
ploys licensed Respiratory
Therapists to be a source
of information on your dis-
ease and ensure all your
questions are answered on
oxygen therapy. Customer
Service Representatives
are used as an aid be-
tween you, your physician
and the insurance compa-
ny to ensure coverage cri-
teria has been met for your
insurance to provide reim-
bursement on your behalf.
Patient Service Technicians
Do you know what
COPD means? Do you
know how to control
your symptoms? At
Carolina Homecare we
are dedicated in assist-
ing our patients
through the phases of
this disease.
COPD refers to a condi-
tion that develops over
time in which the air-
ways of the lungs be-
come blocked, making
breathing difficult. The
two most common con-
ditions that occur in
COPD patients are em-
physema and chronic
bronchitis. Depending
on the severity of your
COPD your physician
may prescribe 1 of two
different therapies
which can help you
breathe better: nebu-
lizer treatments or oxy-
gen therapy.
A nebulizer is a respira-
tory device that deliv-
ers medication as a fine
mist. These systems
come as a stationary
unit or portable. Some
common questions we
hear are:
Q: Does insurance
cover the nebulizer?
A: Yes! Carolina
Homecare works with
most insurance compa-
nies. Carolina
Homecare will com-
municate on your behalf
between your physician
and insurance company
to ensure you are cov-
ered.
Q: How can I get a
nebulizer?
A: When your physician
prescribes a nebulizer,
simply ask them to for-
ward your information
to Carolina
Homecare. Once we
receive this, a Customer
Your Home Medical Resource Since 1984Page 2
will deliver your equipment
to your home as well as
educate you on how each
piece will function. They
are also available 24 hours
a day, 7 days a week to
answer questions as they
arise.
You can live successfully
with COPD, enjoying many
of your normal activities if
can control your symp-
toms. Carolina Homecare is
dedicated to helping you
live life after COPD. Con-
tact us for more information
at (864) 271-8258.
Insurance coverage on mobility items can be tricky. Let us help
you understand what is covered and how much you may
owe! Our experienced staff is available daily from 8:30AM to
5:30PM to answer your questions and provide assistance in any
way.
Most insurance companies will cover wheelchairs and walkers with the right documentation. You will
need to schedule a doctor’s visit to discuss your mobility issues and how a walker or wheelchair will
help you function better in your day to day living activities. After CHC has received your prescription
and information we will call you to confirm delivery of the prescribed equipment.
We look forward to assisting you in the future!
"By the time you're eighty
years old you've learned
everything. You only have to
remember it."
