1. Recent scientific studies have found as many as half of all known animal and plant species are disappearing or on a rapid decline. Monitoring and research of our natural ecosystems is essential in finding answers to reduce the alarming disappearance of biodiversity. West Valley College’s proposed outdoor classroom and laboratory would provide a learning environment to inspire creative and innovative solutions desperately needed for conserving our natural world.
2. West Valley College Living Laboratory Outdoor Classroom This proposed project when completed will work to find innovative solutions toward conservation
3. Vasona Creek West Valley College’s Remarkable Natural Resource The on campus area contains a fully grown tree canopy over the creek that keeps the water shaded and cool enough to support nearly 50 species of wildlife and more than 100 native plant species.
4. The Plan A living laboratory and outdoor classroom Enhancing educational opportunities across several disciplines, West Valley College’s proposed outdoor classroom and laboratory would provide a learning environment to inspire creative and innovative solutions desperately needed for conserving our natural world.
5. Understanding=Discovery Through research and understanding we can ensure conservation of this remarkable resource for the future
6. Creativity The complex environmental issues facing us today require innovative and creative ideas, to discover key solutions.
7. Essential for complex environmental problems The field monitoring of current conditions and modeling of future scenarios can inform decision makers for natural habitat protection and sustainability.
8. Hope for the Future Laying the groundwork for discovery to conservation methods and best practices to protect our natural resources and ensure them for the future.
