 Birth: 1916 Zurich, Switzerland
 With Hans Finsler: School for Arts and Crafts and
photography and advertising studio
 1942: freelancer for Du magazine
 1945 international recognition for his reportage on the
devastation caused by the Second War World
 He travelled to Italy and Greece for Swiss Relief
 1948: Winter Olympics in St Moritz for Life magazine
 1949 first photographer of Magnum.
 1951: went to Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and
Indiochina
 1954: died in a road accident in the Andes
