4. WHAT MAKES A GOOD
REPORTER?
A good reporter has:
• A nose for news - can seek out stories
that are worth writing about and sharing with
the general public.
• See implications -can see how a story
can indicate indirectly, imply, hint, or suggest
meaning that is relevant to the public.
• Asks good questions -can ask
questions that draw answers from the person
being interviewed or research the topic being
thoroughly using the 5 Ws and How
questions to get answers.
• Code of ethics -A good reporter uses a
code of ethics when investigating, writing,
and researching a story. They remain neutral
and reports only the facts that can be proven.
