The minutes of 2011 AGM were read and taken as a true record.
Matters arising
There were no matters arising.
2. Secretary’s Report
The Secretary Jim Collins reported that 2011 had been a good
season with an excellent standard of golf being played. Notable
performances were posted by Frank Morgan ( Machine Shop,
Captain’s Prize, Nightshift Trophy ) and Paul Morgan ( Winter Cup,
Club Championship, Toolroom Trophy). New boy Rory Quigley
posted good scores to take the Club Championship gross. All told
15 members made it onto the stage.
The first day out took place at Mossock Hall where despite
avoiding the rain, conditions were very difficult due to high winds.
The day was however a success and the John Birch Trophy was
won by Dave Ford. Members were impressed by the condition of
the course and the hospitality, and by popular demand the second
day out also took place at Mossock Hall. In much better weather
the Dave Sweeney Trophy was won by Jim Collins.
The presentation night was as usual a success and members
reported being satisfied with the meal.
Following the resignation of Bob Wooding, Eddie Jennings and
John Fossard the membership stood at 28. Jim said that the loss
of the above mentioned members was regrettable but he hoped
they would stay involved.
Jim acknowledged the tremendous effort and commitment to
improving Lee Park put in by Ronnie Singleton and Kenny Lawler.
On a sad note, Jim reported the loss of the founder of the
Mitres Ted Baxter who died in July 2011 aged 93 yrs.
The secretary thanked the members for their cooperation
throughout the season and the committee for all their hard work.
3. Treasurer’s Report
TheTreasurer (Tommy Mottram) reported a membership of 28
resulting in a healthy provisional balance of £1,702. Members
were generally paying subs on time and Tommy thanked them for
their cooperation.
