Friend me, un-friend me, tweet tweet, emails, LinkedIn, YouTube, or
websites and more...Bottom line: I know plumbing.
Most my days are spent helping people solve plumbing problems. So
when my kids know social media and they are teaching me how to be
“connected” it seems like uncharted territory that is overwhelming
sometimes. Just when I got used to emails and texting we launched
Twitter and LinkedIn accounts. I TRULY know the benefits of planning ahead so this January we
also launched a GREAT new website to outline all our services. It will give you a good look at who
we are and how we can partner together. Whatever method we use to connect let’s get the
conversation started on ALL your plumbing needs this spring and summer.

Lily Pulitzer says, “Despite the forecast, LIVE like it’s spring.”
As April wraps up and we prepare for our Summer issue I think I just saw snowflakes this morning?
How is that possible?
Here is a simple checklist you can use to get your house ready for the next season. Call us at
630-978-9696 or visit www.residentialplumbing.biz to book an appointment. We will come over
and take a look.
1. Schedule our RPZ sprinkler testing day, prior to getting the notice from the city. We can
also check your outside faucets & shut off valves for leaks.
2. Is your water heater over 10 years old? We now have the new April 2015 energy
regulations (RP Fall Newsletter) that began. Start planning now for your water heater
replacement budget, identifying if you need more space, and the timing of when you want to
have your new unit installed.
3. Average lifespan for your back up battery system for your sump pump is
7 years. Are you ready for the ups and downs of rain and water this season
in your basement?
4. Planning a new outdoor grill for this summer? We can help add
your gas lines.

Myths "ROYALLY FLUSHED"
CALL TODAY! 630.978.9696
You can ignore whatever you want to, and eventually you will get fined from the city. If
you have potential RPZ system failures that go unchecked, the waste can backflow into
your home and can lead to sickness and, in extreme cases, legionnaires disease for
those affected. Having your device tested is important not just because it is the law. The
RPZ device or RPZ valve is a backflow prevention device that is used to protect our
water supplies from contamination. RPZ stands for Reduced Pressure Zone. The device
consists of 2 independent check valves with a chamber or cavity in-between them.
There is also a pressure relief valve which relieves the excess pressure built up during a
backflow situation. Illinois, and most other states, have laws in place that require your
RPZ device to be tested annually or when first put back in service. A Qualified Cross
Connection device inspector will test your device to determine pass or fail, and it can
relieve any liability from you the homeowner, if a backflow were to occur. RPZ valves
come in a variety of sizes and applications. They are used extensively in residential,
commercial, and industrial arenas to protect us.
The warm weather is about to return and our focus shifts to the outdoors. For many of
us we think about our lawns and landscape and how to irrigate them. For some, you
own an automatic lawn sprinkling system call Residential Plumbing today to schedule
your RPZ testing. You can also schedule service through our website at
www.residentialplumbing.biz.
