PRESS RELEASE
Bon Secours Care-A-Van and Richmond Health District are on the road again -
providing H1N1 vaccination in
Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Communities
The Bon Secours Care-A-Van in partnership with the Richmond City Health District is back on the road to provide
H1N1 vaccination for residents of Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Authority (RRHA) public housing
communities.
Valena Dixon, RRHA VP of Community Relations & Marketing said, “We’re resuming the H1N1 vaccination
campaign that started in December 2009, and pairing vaccination clinics up with “Community Celebrations” that
include music, prize drawings and fun activities along with H1N1 education.” Clinics for residents of RRHA
communities and the general public will be conducted this weekend at the following locations:
Saturday, January 23, 11 am to 3 pm at Hillside Community Center, 1500 Harwood Street.
Sunday, January 24, 11 am to 3 pm at Whitcomb Court Management Center, 2302 Carmine Street
Vaccination clinics will take place through the end of January. Other dates and sites are:
Saturday, January 30, 11 am to 3 pm at Creighton Court Community Room, 2101 Creighton Road and
Sunday, January 31, 11 am to 3 pm at Mosby Court Community Room, 1543 Coalter Street.
H1N1 virus is still a threat to the Richmond community, and vaccination is the best protection.
The Health Department is hoping that providing outreach clinics such as these will make it easier for people to get
the H1N1 vaccine. Vaccine shots as well as quick, easy and painless nasal spray vaccine is available.
Everyone aged-6-months to age 64 is advised to get vaccinated and it’s especially important for persons with
chronic health conditions and persons in high-risk categories, including pregnant women.
