ably MTWG.

Lot 18 - 1785 Vermont Copper
This piece of Vermont history shows a hill with pine trees in the distance and a plow in the fore-

Lot 19 - 1872 Two Cent
Like all the coins offered today, there was only time to submit this coin once, and PCGS didn’t
like the color. Given that this coin was purchased in the 1950s and untouched since then, we feel
like the coin looks the way it should and certainly has more upside than down side. (From Max
Mehl customer buying in the 1950s)
Grade:

Estimate:
$1,500-2,500
Lot 20 - 1877 Indian Head Cent
The 1877 Indian head cent is a key for the series. Just 852,500 were minted. The example here
appears nice for the grade and would certainly be acceptable for a circulated set. (From Max
Mehl customer buying in the 1950s)
Grade:
PCGS Good 6
Estimate:
$500-700
Lot 21 - 1803 Small 3 Draped Bust Dollar
Here is a problem free 1803 $1 coin. Just looking at the reverse you would certainly expect this
coin to be better than a 20. (From Max Mehl customer buying in the 1950s)
Grade:
PCGS VF20
Estimate:
$2,000-3,000
Lot 22 - 1804 25c Draped Bust Quarter
This is a very scarce coin! Only 6,738 were ever minted and the vast majority of the certified ex-
amples are heavily circulated. There is a capital I on both sides of lady liberty, hence the genuine

Estimate:
$1,500-2,500
Lot 23 - 1893 Isabella Commemorative Half Dollar
This coin might appear a bit dark at a glance. However, an in person inspection reveals some
really lovely blue toning in the obverse fields. This is certainly a choice and original coin. (From
Max Mehl customer buying in the 1950s)

Estimate:
$250-300
Lot 27 - 1855 $3 Gold Coin
The mintage on the 1855 $3 gold coin was just 50,555. The example here is fairly graded and
considering the relative scarcity and the uniqueness of the denomination, it could prove to be one
of the better value buys in the auction. (From Max Mehl customer buying in the 1950s)

Estimate:
$800-1,200
Lot 28 - 1843-C $5 Liberty Gold Coin
This scarce coin had a mintage of just 44,277 pieces. And that entire issue was likely well-used
and spread across the eastern half of the United States even before Lincoln entered the White
House. While having a nice overall appearance, this piece of Charlotte gold was just a bit too
shiny for the graders so they called it cleaned. (From Max Mehl customer buying in the 1950s)

Lot 52 - Bahamas - P16a 1936 (1953) Five Pounds
This perhaps seemingly common note will jump off the page to the purist and technical collectors
viewing it. Pick 16a for the Bahamas is just listed as rare and not priced in any grade. This is a
signature combination rarity similar to the US fr. 229a, only the 16a is likely dozens of times rarer.

Lot 50 - Bahamas - P6 1919 (1930) Ten Shillings
Collectors will recognize this note as the key to the post-1900 Bahamas Government type set.
Despite having a few pinholes and some margin nicks, this should make a nice placeholder for
the denomination until another George V 10 shilling becomes available at an uncertain, but likely
distant future offering.

A choice VF George VI October 2nd 1939 $1 note. The paper doesn’t display any hard folds. It is
mostly just handling and bends. This note, in this condition, is far less available than the standard

Lot 54 - Canada - NF-12d Newfoundland Government 1920 $1
There are only about 200 serial numbers listed for the 1920 $1 Newfoundland note in the Cana-
dian note registry. Of that 200, only nine are listed as being in uncirculated condition, and none
of those (as far as we can tell) has ever been up for auction. I believe that is a textbook definition
of rare and closely held. So today’s offering marks a very rare opportunity to add this scarce and
abnormally high grade note to your holdings. Only 407,000 were issued. The odds of more UNC
examples being found are slim.

A lovely black and white proof of this early Montreal note that has four ample margins and

Lot 58 - Canada, Ottawa - Bank of Ottawa 1913 $5
This new addition to the Canadian census vaults to the top of the list of just 32 pieces known
for the date and denomination. This is certainly one of the more beautiful chartered notes. The
front has a sunburst of orange color set against a mostly green design. The central vignette shows
a group of loggers in a partially cleared forest. The note is clearly original and never pressed.
Where the vaguely mentioned “minor repair” is located is unclear and certainly shouldn’t nega-
tively affect your opinion of this beauty.

Lot 59 - Canada, Toronto - Home Bank $5 March 1 1917
This newly discovered chartered note should take collectors by surprise. This note is by far the
nicest of just ten reported pieces for the year and denomination. It has been 12 years since the
series was available at auction. We think this note is estimated conservatively and could very well
sell for more given that chances to buy the best of a few are so limited.

Lot 61 - Canada - DC-14a 1897 $2 Dominion of Canada
This is a Canadian rarity that will surely not be missed by our Northern bidders. There are less
than 20 1897 red brown back $2 dominion notes known to exist. This lovely PPQ example just
surfaced in Vermont and was consigned to our sale. It is priced at $8,500 in Fine and $16,000 in
VF, so our estimate might be too conservative considering that a problem free note of this caliber
should trade for a premium over the catalog value.

This is the scarcer of two design types on the English version of the Bank of Canada 1935 $20

The first thing I notice about this English version Bank of Canada note is that the centering is far
better than average. That alone should easily help it sell within the estimate or better. It features
an image of a young Queen Elizabeth II. Her age and reign are put into perspective when you see
a note from 1935 bearing her portrait.

The estimate on this note should be very attractive to collectors and dealers who follow the large

Lot 129 - Fr. 314 - 1886 $20 Silver Certificate
This is just a flat out rare type note that never seems to be around when you want one. Silver cer-

Lot 130 - Fr. 347 - 1890 $1 Treasury Note
Here is an ornate back treasury note whose back actually looks great for the grade. A few

Lot 131 - Fr. 351 - 1891 $1 Treasury Note
If you are working on an uncirculated large size one dollar type set, then this Stanton should be

It doesn’t take a math wizard to understand that solid serial numbers are only printed for every
11 millionth or so note issued by the government. Unlike low serial numbers which are usually
snapped up by tellers and other cash handlers, you have to have a sharp eye and be in the right
place at the right time to catch a solid fancy serial number like this example with all 4s.

Lot 198 - Fr. 2100-I - 1928 $50 FRN
With a printing of just over 106,000, the Minneapolis district is the scarcest for the first series of
the small size federal reserve notes. Any evidence of circulation is difficult to discern through the
holder of this pretty example that shows vivid color and original embossing.

A mere six districts issued the light green seal variety for this series, with the Minneapolis district
considered the scarcest of that half dozen, particularly in the higher grades. Only ten notes are
certified as AU or better by both PCGS and PMG. Today’s offering has the initial appearance of a

The embossing is quite pronounced on this pretty $100 federal reserve note Mule from the always

As you might expect, $500 stars from the Richmond district are quite scarce. We know of just

Lot 216 - Fr. 2201-H* - 1934 $500 FRN Star
Census records show that this new discovery is just the fourth 1934 $500 star enumerated for the
St. Louis district. The other notes grade AU, low VF, and unknown. It is certainly safe to assume
that this CU piece is the best of its very small group. It is a last minute consignment from Costa
Rica, so the grade of 64 with 4-5 pinholes reflects an accurate grade of a note completely out of
the woodwork. While we don’t think the note will sell extremely cheap, it certainly has a lot of
upside for the flipper or long term speculator, as $500 stars continue to remain scarce.

town’s early prosperity that The Eufaula National Bank was able to open its doors in 1875. However, as rail and river transport became less important, Eufaula hit a depression and the bank failed in 1901 after is-
suing just first charters and brown backs. Today, all money from the bank is scarce. With this new addition the census stands at a mere four pieces, only one of which has a grade or auction result associated with
it. In terms of condition, this piece is Fine with about three pinholes and five punches bigger than pinholes but not large enough to be called tears - all of which are only visible when held to light.
Grade:
Fine
Estimate:
$8,000-12,000
Lot 259 - Fr. 1975-D - 1977A $5 FRN Multiple Overprint Error
These multiple impression errors are rare and freaky. It takes a minute for casual observers to
decide if their vision is blurry or if something is wrong with the note. It looks like a lower right
corner bump is the reason this in a 58 and not a 66.
Grade:
PMG AU 58 EPQ
Estimate:
$1,800-2,200
Lot 260 - Fr. 2072-K - 1977 $20 FRN Serial on Back Error
The back of this note looks like a 68 trapped in a 58 holder. Plus with these you are buying for
the error and eye appeal and less for the technical grade. This should be a good value purchase.
Grade:
PCGS AU 58PPQ
Estimate:
$400-500
Lot 261 - Fr. 2150-L* - 1928 $100 FRN Star Error
This San Francisco star is absolutely one of the coolest subtle errors out there. The star on the
right serial number is actually inverted. It is an extra bonus that this piece happens to be a very
attractive XF with a low three digital serial number.
Grade:
PCGS XF 40
Estimate:
$3,000-4,000
Lot 262 - Fr. 2187-F - 2009A $100 FRN Cutting Error
A pack fresh example of this newly released $100 series that features an appealing cutting error.
The note is cut into the design in the top margin with a sliver of an adjacent 100 seen in its wide
bottom margin.
Grade:
CU
Estimate:
$175-225

47 | Lot #265 - 268 Lot #269 - 270 | 48
Lot 269 - Central City, CO Territory - Ch. 2129 - $1 Series 1875
Here is a great new discovery that should be of interest to both territorial and first charter ace collectors. This piece was recently found in a safety deposit in Colorado and immediately consigned to our auc-
tion. It is in fact the first and only documented Colorado ace from any town outside of Denver or Pueblo. Anyone who has visited Central City recently might think of it as an odd place to have had a territorial
national bank. However, at one point in time Central City was widely reported as “The Richest Square Mile on Earth.” That claim stems from a massive 1859 gold discovery. Within just two months of the
discovery the population of the area grew to 10,000 and Central City was incorporated. To put that size into perspective, Denver had a population of only 4,749 in 1860. And apparently the new population of
Central City wasn’t just a boom and bust like so many mining locales. The town’s original national bank opened in 1866. This ace is from The First National Bank; it opened in 1873 and was around until 1933.
The note here is a very bright and clean Fine. This charter only issued 1220 sheets of series 1875 aces, so the odds of finding another example from here are slim. This should be an attractive buying opportunity
for any collector looking for a Colorado ace who doesn’t want to settle for a many times more common example from Denver or Pueblo.
Grade:
Fine
Estimate:
$15,000-20,000
Lot 270 - Frankford, DE - Ch. 8918 - 1929 $20 Type2
This is one of the hidden rarities in the auction today. Frankford had a single national bank. The total between both large and small in the census is just 10 pieces.
Grade:
Fine
Estimate:
$2,000-3,000
Lot 265 - Tucson, AZ - Ch. 4287 - 1902 $10 Blue Seal
Pretty Arizona blue seals are few and far between. Fortunately, this Tucson note should be a
welcome chance for collectors to add a great looking VF to their holdings.
Grade:
VF
Estimate:
$4,000-6,000
Lot 266 - Gurdon, AR - Ch. 13210 - 1902 $5 Blue Seal
This serial number one blue seal from Arkansas originally showed up as part of the Hendrix col-
lection at the bottom of the market in 2009 and it sold for a pittance as did many notes from that
collection due to its size and the market timing. I expect this peach to get much more attention
today. No other #1 large size notes from Arkansas have been available since that time. This piece
has lovely two color signatures and its only wear is from a few storage folds.
Grade:
VF/EF
Estimate:
$15,000-20,000
Lot 267 - San Jose, CA - Ch. 2158 - $5 Original Series National
Gold Banknote
Finding any national gold bank note can be a challenge. However, if you want to make the search
even more difficult, then try to locate one from a bank outside of San Francisco. The note we
are offering is from San Jose and has been graded as Fine 12. PMG notes repairs, which is very
common for this series. Gold and silver coins were greatly preferred over banknotes at the time
this note originally circulated. So these traded hands frequently as people did not want to get
caught holding what could wind up being a worthless piece of paper. And that is the exact reason
these are rare today.
Grade:
PMG Fine 12 Net
Estimate:
$5,000-6,000
Lot 268 - Stockton, CA - Ch. 2412 - 1929 $10 Type1
Here is a super fresh small size note that has nearly perfect centering on the front and back. Less
than 30 1929 examples are reported across all denominations for this charter.
Grade:
PMG XF 45 EPQ
Estimate:
$400-600

Size: 12.25” tall Estimate: $4,000-6,000 Lot 14 - Daum Nancy Vase with Lily Flowers This is one of the nicer lily pieces I ever recall seeing. Size: 3 3/8” tall Estimate: $1,200-1,800 Lot 17 - Daum Nancy Dutch Harbor Bowl A large Daum Nancy bowl. Exterior shows Dutch harbor scene with sailboats, windmills, and small cottages. Piece is signed “Daum Nancy” with cross of Lorraine. Interior of bowl shows a few as made bubbles and a very small (likely removable) area of green paint is mentioned for completeness only. Size: 8” wide, 3.25” tall Estimate: $1,500-2,000 Lot 18 - 1785 Vermont Copper This piece of Vermont history shows a hill with pine trees in the distance and a plow in the fore- ground. Despite apparently being somewhat bent, this is still a very easy coin to like, and should make a perfect example for the type. (From Max Mehl customer buying in the 1950s) Grade: PCGS VG Details Estimate: $300-600

Given that this coin was purchased in the 1950s and untouched since then, we feel like the coin looks the way it should and certainly has more upside than down side. (From Max Mehl customer buying in the 1950s) Grade: PCGS UNC Details Estimate: $1,500-2,500 Lot 20 - 1877 Indian Head Cent The 1877 Indian head cent is a key for the series. Just 852,500 were minted. The example here appears nice for the grade and would certainly be acceptable for a circulated set. (From Max Mehl customer buying in the 1950s) Grade: PCGS Good 6 Estimate: $500-700 Lot 21 - 1803 Small 3 Draped Bust Dollar Here is a problem free 1803 $1 coin. Just looking at the reverse you would certainly expect this coin to be better than a 20. (From Max Mehl customer buying in the 1950s) Grade: PCGS VF20 Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 22 - 1804 25c Draped Bust Quarter This is a very scarce coin! Only 6,738 were ever minted and the vast majority of the certified ex- amples are heavily circulated. There is a capital I on both sides of lady liberty, hence the genuine Good details grade. However, an in person inspection reveals some really lovely blue toning in the obverse fields. This is certainly a choice and original coin. Grade: XF Estimate: $250-300 Lot 27 - 1855 $3 Gold Coin The mintage on the 1855 $3 gold coin was just 50,555. The example here is fairly graded and considering the relative scarcity and the uniqueness of the denomination, it could prove to be one of the better value buys in the auction. (From Max Mehl customer buying in the 1950s) Grade: PCGS AU50 Estimate: $800-1,200 Lot 28 - 1843-C $5 Liberty Gold Coin This scarce coin had a mintage of just 44,277 pieces. And that entire issue was likely well-used and spread across the eastern half of the United States even before Lincoln entered the White House. While having a nice overall appearance, this piece of Charlotte gold was just a bit too shiny for the graders so they called it cleaned. (From Max Mehl customer buying in the 1950s) Grade: PCGS XF Details Estimate: $1,500-2,500 Lot 29 - 1854 $5 Liberty Gold Coin A well circulated pre-Civil War gold coin with honest wear. Pick 16a for the Bahamas is just listed as rare and not priced in any grade. This is a signature combination rarity similar to the US fr. 229a, only the 16a is likely dozens of times rarer. Grade: PMG VF 25 Estimate: $4,000-6,000 Lot 49 - Bahamas - P4a 1919 One Pound This is the highest denomination issued for the 1919 series. The note has too many folds to be considered XF, but is a premium VF that should sell well. Grade: VF Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 50 - Bahamas - P6 1919 (1930) Ten Shillings Collectors will recognize this note as the key to the post-1900 Bahamas Government type set. Despite having a few pinholes and some margin nicks, this should make a nice placeholder for the denomination until another George V 10 shilling becomes available at an uncertain, but likely distant future offering. Grade: VG Estimate: $700-1,000 Lot 51 - Bahamas - P7 1919 (1930) One Pound A nice circulated George V Bahamas note with sailing ships and palm trees. Grade: Fine Estimate: $600-800 Lot 53 - British Honduras - P20 1939 $1 A choice VF George VI October 2nd 1939 $1 note. The paper doesn’t display any hard folds. It is mostly just handling and bends. This note, in this condition, is far less available than the standard guide would have you believe. Grade: VF+ Estimate: $600-800 Lot 54 - Canada - NF-12d Newfoundland Government 1920 $1 There are only about 200 serial numbers listed for the 1920 $1 Newfoundland note in the Cana- dian note registry. Of that 200, only nine are listed as being in uncirculated condition, and none of those (as far as we can tell) has ever been up for auction. I believe that is a textbook definition of rare and closely held. So today’s offering marks a very rare opportunity to add this scarce and abnormally high grade note to your holdings. Only 407,000 were issued. The odds of more UNC examples being found are slim. Grade: PMG CU 64 Estimate: $4,000-6,000

These are seemingly scarce items and should sell for more than their cut value which is $1,000 according to the latest guide. Grade: XF Estimate: $600-1,000 Lot 56 - Canada, Peterborough - The Newcastle Loan District $4 $10 1836 Half Sheet The second of a consecutive pair of uncut half sheets drawn on The New Castle District Loan Company. Most all circulation is limited to the margins. Grade: XF Estimate: $600-1,000 Lot 57 - Canada, Montreal - City Bank $1 Jan 1 185_ Proof A lovely black and white proof of this early Montreal note that has four ample margins and vividly printed details. This is at the very least a rare proof. We could find no other auction appearances. The Apparent grade was assigned for a couple of small, barely discernible mounting remnants on the back. Grade: PCGS CU 64 App Estimate: $750-1,250 Lot 58 - Canada, Ottawa - Bank of Ottawa 1913 $5 This new addition to the Canadian census vaults to the top of the list of just 32 pieces known for the date and denomination. This is certainly one of the more beautiful chartered notes. The front has a sunburst of orange color set against a mostly green design. The central vignette shows a group of loggers in a partially cleared forest. The note is clearly original and never pressed. Where the vaguely mentioned “minor repair” is located is unclear and certainly shouldn’t nega- tively affect your opinion of this beauty. Grade: PMG XF 45 Net Estimate: $6,000-8,000 Lot 59 - Canada, Toronto - Home Bank $5 March 1 1917 This newly discovered chartered note should take collectors by surprise. This note is by far the nicest of just ten reported pieces for the year and denomination. It has been 12 years since the series was available at auction. We think this note is estimated conservatively and could very well sell for more given that chances to buy the best of a few are so limited. Grade: PCGS VF 30 Estimate: $5,000-7,000 Lot 60 - Canada - DC-12 1897 $1 Dominion of Canada This is a one year design type for which only about 85 pieces are known to exist. If this were an American note with the same statistics it would be worth about ten times more than the estimate on the example here. Grade: PCGS VF 20 Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 61 - Canada - DC-14a 1897 $2 Dominion of Canada This is a Canadian rarity that will surely not be missed by our Northern bidders. There are less than 20 1897 red brown back $2 dominion notes known to exist. This lovely PPQ example just surfaced in Vermont and was consigned to our sale. It is priced at $8,500 in Fine and $16,000 in VF, so our estimate might be too conservative considering that a problem free note of this caliber should trade for a premium over the catalog value. Grade: PCGS Fine 15PPQ Estimate: $5,000-7,000 Lot 62 - Canada - DC-14b 1897 $2 Dominion of Canada A great problem free Dominion note for any collector working on a basic design type set. Grade: PCGS Fine 12 Estimate: $600-1,000 Lot 63 - Canada - DC-25o 1923 $1 Dominion of Canada Dominion notes of this quality are seldom seen. Having margins for a gem grade are a huge bonus and should be reflected in the final price. And of course any note with a portrait of George V should have some extra pull with royalty collectors. Grade: PMG Gem 66 EPQ Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 64 - Canada - BC-9a 1935 $20 Bank of Canada This is the scarcer of two design types on the English version of the Bank of Canada 1935 $20 note. It has a large black seal. It has no hard folds. Its only real signs of circulation can be seen on the back of the note where some wallet use is noted along with some corner dings. Grade: VF Estimate: $1,500-2,500 Lot 65 - Canada - BC-9b 1935 $20 Bank of Canada The first thing I notice about this English version Bank of Canada note is that the centering is far better than average. That alone should easily help it sell within the estimate or better. It features an image of a young Queen Elizabeth II. Her age and reign are put into perspective when you see a note from 1935 bearing her portrait. Grade: VF Estimate: $1,200-1,800 Lot 66 - Canada - BC-13 1935 $50 Bank of Canada It’s a shame that the margins aren’t as clean as the field and portrait of this note. Of course the rarity on this example will still carry this piece a long way. Only 131,000 were issued. Grade: PCGS VF 20 App Estimate: $2,000-3,000

We can find no past auction results, but we feel confident that something so elusive should be worth within the estimate or better. Grade: VG Estimate: $2,500-3,500 Lot 73 - Fr. 16 - 1862 $1 Legal Tender Serial Number 5 Low serial number 5 graces the moderately circulated example of this early Legal Ace that displays excellent color and an overall pleasing appearance. A few specks of residue on the back and some minor splits account for PMG’s Net designation. Grade: PMG VF 20 Net Estimate: $1,000-1,500 Lot 74 - Fr. 16c - 1862 $1 Legal Tender This is the first type of one dollar banknote issued by the federal government. The example here is wholly uncirculated, the margins are just a bit too askew for a much high grade. You still get loads of eye appeal and originality though. Grade: PMG UNC 62 EPQ Estimate: $2,000-2,500 Lot 75 - Fr. 18 - 1869 $1 Legal Tender There are no hard folds on this Rainbow legal tender. The PPQ designator was certainly earned as the wear seems to be limited to bends and handling. Grade: PCGS VF 35PPQ Estimate: $1,200-1,800 Lot 76 - Fr. 18 - 1869 $1 Legal Tender This is a lovely original $1 legal tender from the Rainbow series. Only a center fold can be seen when held to the light. The margins are exceptional on this example. It is certainly worth a premium bid. Grade: PCGS XF 40PPQ Estimate: $1,800-2,200 Lot 77 - Fr. 26 - 1875 $1 Legal Tender This is a nice compromise between the expensive UNCs and the ragged dogs that are often on the market for this issue. As the PPQ suggests, this circulated note is free of pinholes or any distrac- tions and is premium for the grade. Grade: PCGS VF 20PPQ Estimate: $300-400 Lot 78 - Fr. 36 - 1917 $1 Legal Tender Here is a very sharp sawhorse one dollar legal tender. Based on the margins, color, and overall freshness, I would say that the gem 65 grade is well deserved. Grade: PMG Gem 65 EPQ Estimate: $500-700

One dollar red seal legal tenders like this just seem to keep going up in price after every auction. Everyone needs one for a type set, and 66s are only offered a few times a year at best. Grade: PMG Gem 66 EPQ Estimate: $1,200-1,800 Lot 80 - Fr. 41 - 1862 $2 Legal Tender It seemed unfair to put something that has had such a rough life into a group lot. Don’t let the missing piece distract you, there is still a lot of color and life left in this banknote that was issued while the Civil War was at full steam. Grade: Good Estimate: $100-200 Lot 81 - Fr. 41 - 1862 $2 Legal Tender A great early example of the first two dollar bill design used by the United States. It shows a por- trait of Alexander Hamilton before he made it on the ten dollar bill. A tiny upper right margin split barely breaks the design. Otherwise, this is as nice as you will see for a VF. Grade: VF+ Estimate: $2,000-2,500 Lot 82 - Fr. 41a - 1862 $2 Legal Tender This is a really fresh two dollar legal tender that has a strikingly rich red serial number. Grade: PCGS VF 20 Estimate: $800-1,200 Lot 83 - Fr. 51 - 1880 $2 Legal Tender Courtesy Autograph A courtesy autograph set for late 19th century lower denominations is a challenging but doable project. The deuce offered here would be a great start. It has a Gilfillan signature and he went a step further and wrote out his title, Tres of U.S. Grade: PMG AU 58 Estimate: $1,000-1,500 Lot 84 - Fr. 58 - 1917 $2 Legal Tender This tougher Friedberg number is free of any folds or other issues that would prevent us from calling it uncirculated. Grade: CU Estimate: $300-500 Lot 85 - Fr. 60 - 1917 $2 Legal Tenders, 4 Consecutive A fresh and quite lovely cut sheet of four consecutive 1917 $2 legal tenders. These obviously never circulated, but did pick up a center fold and some handling while in storage. Grade: AU Estimate: $800-1,200 Lot 86 - Fr. 64 - 1869 $5 Legal Tender Despite being well-used with a mix of moderate splits and tears, you are still buying a rainbow note whose greens and reds are just as vibrant in this condition as they are in a much higher grade. Grade: VG Estimate: $300-500 Lot 87 - Fr. 64 - 1869 $5 Legal Tender We don’t see any folds present on this five dollar rainbow. It does have a small touch of toning the back lower left margin, so we are playing it safe and calling this one AU/CU. This is still a premium note that would be a bargain if it sells within the auction estimate. Grade: AU/CU Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 88 - Fr. 91 - 1907 $5 Legal Tender No 19th or 20th century large size type set would be complete without a woodchopper. With the price of CU notes exceeding $1,000 on many occasions, buying an AU of equal eye appeal at half the price should be an attractive option. Grade: PCGS AU 58 Estimate: $400-600 Lot 89 - Fr. 91 - 1907 $5 Legal Tender PCBLIC Error A very attractive example of this popular engraving error that has a vibrant red overprint and bright, white paper. In the sixth line of the obligation on the back, the word “PUBLIC” is engraved as “PCBLIC”. Grade: PMG CU 63 EPQ Estimate: $600-800 Lot 90 - Fr. 93c - 1862 $10 Legal Tender I think when non-collectors envision old paper money, this 1862 $10 legal tender is what they should see. It has a historically important figure (Abraham Lincoln). It is also complete with a vignette of an eagle and a classically beautiful woman. The note offered here has all of that plus a reasonably high grade of VF 20 with mention of a very small margin tear. Grade: PCGS VF 20 App Estimate: $1,200-1,800

At a starting bid of just $2,000, this will be a rare opportunity to acquire one of these beauties without having to pay a painful dealer markup. Grade: PMG CU 64 EPQ Estimate: $4,000-6,000 Lot 92 - Fr. 122 - 1901 $10 Legal Tender This bison note should outperform the number on the holder. The note does not appear to be pressed and it has bright colors, clean paper, and good margins. I would wager it faces up nicer than 95% of 35s out there. Grade: PMG VF 35 Estimate: $1,800-2,200 Lot 93 - Fr. 122 - 1901 $10 Legal Tender I only wish I had an XF bison every time someone asked for one at a show. This is another type note whose value just keeps going up in this grade range. The example here is a spot on 40 with great color and vivid vignettes. Grade: PMG XF 40 Estimate: $2,000-2,500 Lot 94 - Fr. 122m - 1901 $10 Legal Tender The only wear noticeable on this absolutely stunning Lewis and Clark bison is a vertical fold in the far right margin. Everything else like the color and centering are exemplary for the grade. Grade: PCGS XF 45 Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 95 - Fr. 123 - 1923 $10 Legal Tender This is the only pokerchip offered in today’s auction. It is in fine condition with thick paper and bright overprints for the grade. There is a tear about midway into the left black design. Grade: Fine Estimate: $800-1,200 Lot 96 - Fr. 190a - 1864 $10 Compound Interest Treasury Note Any person who has ever considered buying a compound interest treasury note can attest to how difficult it is to find a pleasing example. Most everything has significant issues like repairs, miss- ing pieces, or other compromising condition factors. Fortunately though, the note being offered here, while bearing the apparent designation for minor rust, is completely free of restoration or any distracting problems. This note turned up in western Michigan and was sent to us completely as found and that is how we are selling it today - fresh and original from the weeds. Grade: PCGS VF 20 App Estimate: $5,000-7,000 Lot 97 - Fr. 215 - 1886 $1 Silver Certificate A trifold and a horizontal fold account for the only wear on this lovely Martha Washington silver certificate. Grade: PCGS VF 30PPQ Estimate: $550-700 Lot 98 - Fr. 217 - 1886 $1 Silver Certificate It looks like two pinholes are keeping this Martha Washington note away from the PPQ designa- tion. It has clearly never been pressed or messed with in any way. Grade: PCGS VF 35 Estimate: $500-700 Lot 99 - Fr. 223 - 1891 $1 Silver Certificate We see a center bend and a corner tip fold on this Martha. An in person inspection reveals all original paper wave and massive embossing. Grade: PCGS AU 53 Estimate: $1,000-1,200 Lot 100 - Fr. 223 - 1891 $1 Silver Certificate I believe this is tied for the highest grade large size type note we are offering in today’s auction. This Martha earned every bit of her 66 grade. The margins are as you would expect for a gem note. And I would wager that the colors and embossing are as nice and original as the day this note was printed. Grade: PCGS Gem 66PPQ Estimate: $3,000-3,500 Lot 101 - Fr. 224 - 1896 $1 Silver Certificate A single centerfold is the only sign of circulation on this low denomination educational. PMG notes lightened stains. Grade: PMG XF 45 Net Estimate: $1,000-1,500 Lot 102 - Fr. 224 - 1896 $1 Silver Certificate Broad margins highlight this $1 educational that has a couple of issues with the upper right corner. Grade: PMG AU 55 Net Estimate: $800-1,200

Monstrous margins and great color highlight this piece that has already been encapsulated in a comment free PMG holder. Grade: PMG CU 64 Estimate: $2,000-2,500 Lot 104 - Fr. 225 - 1896 $1 Silver Certificate This note would make a great addition for someone looking to begin a moderate educational set. A half inch internal split is seen when held to light. Grade: Good/VG Estimate: $150-200 Lot 105 - Fr. 225 - 1896 $1 Silver Certificate This one dollar educational has some toning on its right hand side. However, that just means that you get the same piece of history for a slightly discounted price. The note shows three light vertical folds and one horizontal. Grade: VF+ Estimate: $400-600 Lot 106 - Fr. 229 - 1899 $1 Silver Certificate This Vernon McClung black eagle is crackling fresh. I would expect it to at least be in a 65 holder. The centering and originality are all there for the grade. Grade: Gem Estimate: $500-700 Lot 107 - Fr. 230 - 1899 $1 Silver Certificate Sharp corners and no folds make this black eagle a 64 or better all day long. Grade: CU Estimate: $500-700 Lot 108 - Fr. 232 - 1899 $1 Silver Certificate A pretty example of this popular Black Eagle design that displays bold ink colors, bright paper, and solid, original embossing. Grade: PMG CU 64 EPQ Estimate: $550-750 Lot 109 - Fr. 233 - 1899 $1 Silver Certificates, 2 Consecutive Two is better than one, and the price should be very easy to handle on this sequential pair of black eagles. Grade: VF Estimate: $250-350 Lot 110 - Fr. 233 - 1899 $1 Silver Certificate This high grade black eagle has good colors and serial number embossing is still present. This would be a great start for any collector looking to assemble an AU “nickname” note collection. Grade: PMG AU 55 Estimate: $300-400 Lot 111 - Fr. 236 - 1899 $1 Silver Certificate This black eagle faces up as UNC, but the back reveals and old trifold. It is still a worthwhile note for anyone interested in large size US currency. Grade: XF Estimate: $150-250 Lot 112 - Fr. 238 - 1923 $1 Silver Certificates, 3 Consecutive A nice little run of three large size silver certificates. This is about as cheap of a numismatic ice-breaker as you can buy. Grade: VF/XF Estimate: $100-150 Lot 113 - Fr. 246 - 1891 $2 Silver Certificate This is the only 1891 $2 silver certificate offered in this auction. It appears that a tiny upper left corner tip fold is the only thing keeping this from a CU grade. Windom notes of this caliber never have trouble finding interested buyers. This note should be very attractive to the serious collector. Grade: PCGS AU 58 Estimate: $3,000-4,000 Lot 114 - Fr. 247 - 1896 $2 Silver Certificate This two dollar educational has a few condition comments that are very typical for its degree of circulation. Although, assuming you aren’t a grade freak, this piece would work nicely and has a lot of pop for a VG 10. Grade: PCGS VG 10 App Estimate: $300-500

This piece has rich blue serial numbers, a lush red seal, and gem caliber front margins. Grade: PMG VF 30 Estimate: $1,700-2,300 Lot 116 - Fr. 248 - 1896 $2 Silver Certificate It is fair to say that this two dollar educational never circulated. Its only wear is two vertical folds that are easiest to see on the back of the note. We have a nice selection of educationals in this auction. Don’t let that make you think that these are readily available. The chance to buy a note of this caliber with an opening bid of just $1,500 and no reserve is a rare opportunity indeed. Grade: PMG XF 45 Estimate: $3,000-4,000 Lot 117 - Fr. 263 - 1886 $5 Silver Certificate This is the only 1886 Morgan back silver certificate offered in today’s auction. Curiously, the back quarter folds are taped, yet none of the paper appears to have any significant splits or tears. The face is so nice that it would be great for a binder type set or it could be a good project note for a speculator. Grade: VF Estimate: $800-1,200 Lot 118 - Fr. 268 - 1896 $5 Silver Certificate This five dollar educational is likely soon going to find its way into a problem free fine 15 holder. This is a great opportunity to get one without the plastic markup. Grade: Fine Estimate: $1,500-2,000 Lot 119 - Fr. 268 - 1896 $5 Silver Certificate A couple of minor toning spots in the upper margin are the only thing keeping this choice educa- tional from a PPQ designation. The note is free of pinholes and is absolutely as pretty and fresh of a note as you will ever see in a VF 30 holder. Grade: PCGS VF 30 Estimate: $3,000-4,000 Lot 120 - Fr. 269 - 1896 $5 Silver Certificate This should be of interest to any collector trying to pick up a five dollar educational without breaking the bank. The example offered here has a few pinholes, but it is free of any condition issues that would get it into an apparent holder. Grade: VG Estimate: $800-1,200 Lot 121 - Fr. 269 - 1896 $5 Silver Certificate Here is another shot at a freshly discovered five dollar educational. This auction is making these seem common, but of course we know that is far from the case. A small edge split is the only negative thing PCGS could find on this evenly circulated banknote. Grade: PCGS Fine 12 App Estimate: $600-1,000 Lot 122 - Fr. 269 - 1896 $5 Silver Certificate I expect this $5 educational to be on a lot of watch lists. It faces up far nicer than a 25. Problem- free notes in this grade range are becoming increasingly difficult to locate at reasonable prices. Grade: PCGS VF 25 Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 123 - Fr. 272 - 1899 $5 Silver Certificate The estimate on this note should be very attractive to collectors and dealers who follow the large size type market. This chief is a little bit of yellow toning away from being a note that should easily trade for $1,000. Grade: VF Estimate: $500-700 Lot 124 - Fr. 275 - 1899 $5 Silver Certificate It is always nice to have a great selection of chief notes in any auction. The piece offered here is clearly in “as found” condition. The paper looks crispy and original. Remnants of paper clip rust can be seen on the back of the note. Grade: PMG VF 30 Net Estimate: $700-1,000 Lot 125 - Fr. 280m - 1899 $5 Silver Certificate This chief has the margins and look of a gem, but some small imperfection must be keeping it in the AU grade. There is a small tribe of chiefs offered in this auction. The note here could very well be the bargain of the group, which will be a win for the buyer. Grade: PCGS AU 55 Estimate: $2,000-2,500 Lot 126 - Fr. 280m - 1899 $5 Silver Certificate A conservatively graded high end nickname note never has trouble finding a home. This chief is a John Burke Back Plate #1184. Grade: PMG CU 63 EPQ Estimate: $2,800-3,500

The grade of 45 EPQ says a lot. There are no hard vertical or hori- zontal folds and most circulation seems limited to handling and a single lower right corner fold. Grade: PMG XF 45 EPQ Estimate: $1,200-1,800 Lot 128 - Fr. 299 - 1891 $10 Silver Certificate You won’t see a lot of tombstone notes in this grade with the PPQ qualifier. We wouldn’t be surprised to see this 20PPQ sell for as much or maybe even more than a flat 35. Grade: PCGS VF 20PPQ Estimate: $1,000-1,500 Lot 129 - Fr. 314 - 1886 $20 Silver Certificate This is just a flat out rare type note that never seems to be around when you want one. Silver cer- tificates were still a relatively new type of money in 1886. The Manning “Diamond Back” offered here clearly traded hands a few times before getting tucked away for us to collect today. Grade: PCGS VG 8 Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 130 - Fr. 347 - 1890 $1 Treasury Note Here is an ornate back treasury note whose back actually looks great for the grade. A few pinholes and a minor split are seen; otherwise this is a nice piece for a collector looking to pick up a scarcer type for not a bunch of money. Grade: Good/VG Estimate: $150-200 Lot 131 - Fr. 351 - 1891 $1 Treasury Note If you are working on an uncirculated large size one dollar type set, then this Stanton should be of serious interest. Edwin Stanton is one of five former Abraham Lincoln cabinet members to appear on federal paper money. Assembling that collection could be a set in and of itself. Grade: PCGS CU 64 Estimate: $1,200-1,500 Lot 132 - Fr. 353 - 1890 $2 Treasury Note This is the only 1890 $2 ornate back treasury in today’s auction. The apparent designation for minor rust, while technically accurate, seems a bit harsh for a note in Fine 12 condition. Grade: PCGS Fine 12 App Estimate: $800-1,200 Lot 133 - Fr. 356 - 1891 $2 Treasury Note A well preserved and evenly circulated type note which is a little bit tough to find in nice VF condition. Note features the portrait of General James McPherson, the second highest ranking Union general killed in the Civil War. Grade: VF Estimate: $800-1,200 Lot 134 - Fr. 712 - 1918 $1 FRBN With over 1,000 notes in the census, this is usually the Friedberg number selected by collectors to represent this design type. With its wonderful colors and superb paper surfaces, today’s offering would be an ideal candidate for a near-Gem type set. Grade: PMG CU 64 EPQ Estimate: $400-600 Lot 135 - Fr. 717 - 1918 $1 FRBN Original paper wave and serial number embossing are present on this Philadelphia flying eagle that shows just a remnant of a center bend. Grade: AU+ Estimate: $400-600 Lot 136 - Fr. 752 - 1918 $2 FRBN No folds are present on this 1918 battleship note, which happens to be the only one offered in today’s auction. With ugly problem notes from the same series consistently selling for several hundred dollars, notes in this price point seem like a comparative bargain. PMG notes adhesive on back. Grade: PMG CU 63 Estimate: $2,000-2,500 Lot 137 - Fr. 782 - 1918 $5 FRBN A well circulated example of this popular design type that has some edge roughness. Despite its flaws, this piece still displays nice color and bold design elements. Grade: VG/F Estimate: $200-300 Lot 138 - Fr. 793 - 1918 $5 FRBN Here is a choice original federal reserve bank note from Chicago. The note clearly spent a little bit of time in commerce, but it is bright with crispy white paper and is free of any condition issues. Grade: VF Estimate: $300-500

We probably see one 1918 $5 FRBN for every fifty 1914 $5 FRN, yet the price on these doesn’t seem to accurately reflect that vast disparity. Grade: VF Estimate: $400-600 Lot 140 - Fr. 871a* - 1914 $5 Blue Seal Star A moderately circulated example of this large size FRN star that has nice color for the grade along with some minor edge wear in the top margins. Grade: Fine+ Estimate: $200-300 Lot 141 - Fr. 871b - 1914 $5 FRN This Chicago blue seal faces up as UNC, but the back shows a little bit more circulation. Still a very acceptable note that should be attractively priced. Grade: PCGS AU 50 Estimate: $200-250 Lot 142 - Fr. 936* - 1914 $10 FRN Star If your instincts tell you that this looks rare, then listen to your gut. Grade: PCGS VG 10 Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 143 - Fr. 1133-B - 1918 $1000 FRN This is a very solid and clean looking 1918 $1000 federal reserve note from the New York district. This and the 1907/1922 gold certificates are the only large size one thousand dollar banknotes that can be purchased for less than $100,000. If you have been in the market for one then this high grade VF would be a great option. These are usually much more expensive in a dealer’s case than at auction. Like most notes from this series, the example here has some moderate restoration. Grade: PMG VF 35 Net Estimate: $20,000-25,000 Lot 144 - Fr. 1173 - 1922 $10 Gold Certificate RADAR Here is an unexpected find in the large size category. This $10 gold certificate sports a fancy radar serial number. And to up the ante, it is also a binary radar. We don’t have any census data for these, but we have never handled one before. Grade: Fine Estimate: $500-700 Lot 145 - Fr. 1173 - 1922 $10 Gold Certificates A very crisp and original consecutive pair of 1922 $10 gold certificates. If you are counting folds then these might be 35q to you. However, given the color, crispness, and unquestionable original- ity, we are calling both of these XF. Grade: XF Estimate: $600-800 Lot 146 - Fr. 1173 - 1922 $10 Gold Certificate This is your classic three vertical fold XF. As is typical of the grade, this beautiful note likely saw no real time in circulation and has wound up in its present condition just because of storage folds. The prices on gold notes accelerate quickly past this grade. Grade: PMG XF 40 EPQ Estimate: $400-600 Lot 147 - Fr. 1173 - 1922 $10 Gold Certificate A light horizontal and vertical bend account for the only wear on this lovely and original 1922 $10 gold certificate that was awarded the exceptional paper quality designation. Grade: PMG AU 50 EPQ Estimate: $600-800 Lot 148 - Fr. 1173 - 1922 $10 Gold Certificate I predict this will next be seen in a AU 50q holder of some type. This 1922 $10 gold certificate is too fresh and original to not get graded. If it only sells for the high estimate then there will still be money to be made with it. Grade: AU Estimate: $400-600 Lot 149 - Fr. 1173* - 1922 $10 Gold Certificate Star Large size stars are one of the classically undervalued notes in the collectible currency field. In terms of rarity, this Hillegas note should be worth many times the estimate, but the market just isn’t there yet. PMG notes a tear. Grade: PMG VF 20 Estimate: $600-800 Lot 150 - Fr. 1178 - 1882 $20 Gold Certificate Here is a comment free Good that faces up excellently and would be at home in a type collection. However, the back on this example is a dark orange that looks very fresh for a circulated note. The grade seems spot on and will be a target for collectors tired of wading through the drove of apparent and net notes out there. Grade: PCGS VF 25 Estimate: $1,200-1,800 Lot 152 - Fr. 1180 - 1905 $20 Gold Certificate This is just the second technicolor note we have had the pleasure of offering. Any collector knows how elusive these type notes are, really in any condition. This note has great color and that is why you buy these. We are calling it F/VF, but it looks as nice or better than a PCGS 20 we had in the February sale. Grade: F/VF Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 153 - Fr. 1187 - 1922 $20 Gold Certificate I am guessing that the final auction result on this beauty will surprise a few people. However, this has to be the absolute nicest 35 EPQ note I have ever seen. All of its circulation seems to be limited to bends and handling. Grade: PMG VF 35 EPQ Estimate: $400-600 Lot 154 - Fr. 1187 - 1922 $20 Gold Certificate A touch of paper wave is present on this high grade large size gold note. We searched and can’t find anything that resembles a fold. Grade: CU Estimate: $800-1,200 Lot 155 - Fr. 1200 - 1922 $50 Gold Certificate The orange color remains quite bold on this circulated $50 Certificate that represents the Fried- berg number usually selected by collectors to represent this denomination in a type set. Some very minor traces of edge wear are noted in the top margin. Grade: Fine Estimate: $350-500 Lot 156 - Fr. 1225h - 1900 $10000 Gold Certificate The first and slightly nicer of two nearly consecutive $10,000 gold notes. This piece is completely free of any water damage that is so often seen on this issue. Grade: PCGS AU 50 Estimate: $3,000-4,000 Lot 157 - Fr. 1225h - 1900 $10000 Gold Certificate Imagine, a $10,000 gold note available for less than its face value. Off the top of my head, I believe this is the only federal issue that trades for less than its original face value. Grade: PCGS XF 45 Estimate: $3,000-4,000 Lot 158 - Group Lot - $220 Face Value Large Size FRNs This assortment of large size FRNs includes two $5s, seven $10s, and seven $20s. Several different FRN districts are found in this group of notes which display a range of grades with a few of the notes having some minor flaws. Grade: Various Estimate: $1,000-1,500 Lot 159 - Group Lot - (3) 1923 $1 Silver Certificates All fr. 237s - a nice circulated group lot for not a lot of money. Grade: PMG UNC 62 EPQ Estimate: $300-400 Lot 164 - Fr. 1502* - 1928A $2 Legal Tender A pleasing mid-grade example of this rare early Legal Tender star note that retains its fire engine red overprint. A tough FR for the series. Grade: F/VF Estimate: $500-700 Lot 165 - Fr. 1534* - 1953B $5 Legal Tender This red seal legal tender five is not necessarily rare as a star, but it is extremely rare in the lofty grade of superb gem 67. I would fully expect the auction estimate here to be topped. Grade: PMG Superb Gem 67 EPQ Estimate: $400-600 Lot 166 - Fr. 1550 - 1966 $100 Legal Tender Here is a low two digit serial number 65 red seal $100. This would be popular just as a type note, and the fancy number certainly won’t hurt the final price realization. Grade: PCGS CU 64PPQ Estimate: $1,200-1,800 Lot 167 - Fr. 1618 - 100 1935H $1 Silver Certificates Here are 100 1935H with motto $1 silver certificates. The pack has three stars that replace gaps in the non-star runs. The left side of the first half of the pack has a wave, but everything is certainly still CU or better. This is a neat numismatic item and great for educational purposes if you ever needed to explain replacement notes. Grade: CU Estimate: $700-900 Lot 168 - Fr. 1621 - 1957B $1 Silver Certificate Pack Even at the high end of the estimate, being able to buy 100 consecutive 1957B $1 silver certifi- cates at just $10 a piece seems like a bargain. Grade: CU-Gem Estimate: $600-1,000 Lot 169 - Fr. 1657* - 1953B $5 Silver Certificate Star A center fold is the only trace of circulation we can find on this newly reported star note. A touch of embossing and some paper wave are still present as well, making the grade of 40 seem a bit harsh. Of course the 1953B $5 silver certificate star is the key to the series and certainly one of the rarest post 1928 stars. I would wager you will have a tough time finding more eye appeal for the price. Grade: PMG XF 40 Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 170 - Fr. 1850-G* - 1929 $5 FRBN Star An evenly circulated and problem free example of this scarce federal reserve bank note star that has only about three dozen pieces of this denomination listed for the Chicago district in the latest census. Grade: PCGS Fine 12 Estimate: $150-250 Lot 171 - Fr. 1860-A - 1929 $10 FRBN Bright, white paper, bold ink colors, and solid embossing are the hallmarks of this near-Gem $10 federal reserve bank note from the Boston district. Grade: PCGS CU 64PPQ Estimate: $200-300 Lot 172 - Fr. 1860-G* - 1929 $10 FRBN Star This federal reserve bank note Chicago star is complimented with a three digit serial number. The note is very lightly circulated and should easily sell within the estimate. Grade: VF Estimate: $1,000-1,500 Lot 173 - Fr. 1860-G* - 1929 $10 FRBN Star While not a top pop, this well circulated federal reserve bank note replacement represents a very tough district for stars with barely a dozen notes in the census. Some staining and paper pulls are found on this Chicago piece that represents an opportunity to acquire this scarce star at a more modest price. Grade: VG Estimate: $150-250 Lot 174 - Fr. 1860-H* - 1929 $10 FRBN Star A well margined and evenly circulated example of this scarce St. Louis federal reserve bank note star that has nice color and solid paper for the grade. It still has embossing clearly visible on the back of the note. Grade: AU/CU Estimate: $200-300 Lot 176 - Fr. 1901-L - 1963A FRN Serial Number 11 Low two digit serial number 11 graces this pack fresh San Francisco note from this early $1 federal reserve note series. With just Zeroes and Ones, this piece also qualifies as a “binary” serial number. Grade: CU Estimate: $200-300 Lot 177 - Fr. 1924-E - 1999 $1 FRN Serial Number 1 This is certainly one of the sexier items in the small size section today. Serial number one notes never go out of style. This piece from the Richmond district was haphazardly cut into when a fresh brick was unwrapped. Of course the majority of the value here is in the number, E00000001A, so don’t let the minor condition issue steer you away from this sure fire numismatic conversation starter. Grade: PMG VF 35 Net Estimate: $2,400-3,500 Lot 178 - Fr. 1928-E - 2003 $1 FRN Solid Star Serial Number Fancy serial number collectors take note. This is one of just six solid serial number stars known to exist. Those other six pieces are closely held and we can only find one previous auction result for the type. That would make the chance to buy a solid star at auction actually rarer than the note... Grade: Fine Estimate: $4,000-6,000 Lot 179 - Fr. 1933-L - 2006 $1 FRN Star Pack A lovely pack of 100 consecutive star notes from the Kansas City district comprise this lot. Many of the notes have enough centering to easily qualify for the full Gem grade. Grade: CU to Gem Estimate: $175-225 Lot 180 - Fr. 3001-E - 2013 $1 FRN Low Serial Numbers Boardwalk margins surround these two well embossed $1 federal reserve notes from Richmond that feature low two digit serial numbers 18 and 19. Grade: CU Estimate: $250-350 Lot 181 - Fr. 1939-K* - 2009 $2 FRN Fancy Number A bright, boldly inked Dallas $2 star note that carries a low three digit serial number of 00000600 which would also qualify as a near solid serial number if you think about it. Fancy serials on all two dollar star notes should be considered at least scarce. Grade: PMG CU 64 EPQ Estimate: $150-200 Lot 182 - Fr. 1950-K - 1928 $5 FRN Dallas Pack This is definitely one of the coolest items in our summer auction. There are 100 consecutive notes in this full pack. Centering and quality ranges from CU to Superb Gem. The bottom right corner of about 60% the pack shows a little bit of exterior staining that looks like it could be picked off or otherwise removed. This is certainly a great opportunity to buy an interesting item that is sure to get rarer as people break these open for grading. Grade: CU-Gem Estimate: $10,000-15,000 Lot 183 - Fr. 1955-F - 1934 $5 FRN LGS The lime green ink colors of this pretty light green seal Atlanta five stand out quite nicely on this bright federal reserve note that represents a scarcer district for this series. Grade: PMG CU 64 EPQ Estimate: $400-550 Lot 184 - Fr. 1978-I - 1985 $5 FRN Binary Radar This widely margined and pack fresh Minneapolis five dollar federal reserve note sports a fancy “binary radar” serial number of 00444400. Grade: PCGS Gem 66PPQ Estimate: $80-120 Lot 185 - Fr. 1987-F - 1999 $5 Binary Super Radar A well margined and sharply inked Big Head five from Atlanta federal reserve district that is further enhanced by an appealing “binary super radar” serial number of 10000001. Grade: PCGS AU 58PPQ Estimate: $200-300 Lot 186 - Fr. 2000-C - 1928 $10 FRN The collector market is finally starting to appreciate the rarity and collectability of 1928 federal reserve notes. This uncirculated numeral from the Philadelphia district will likely not go un- noticed. PMG added the comment of great embossing. Grade: PMG 64 Estimate: $300-500

Grade: PMG CU 64 EPQ Estimate: $350-450 Lot 188 - Fr. 2004-K - 1934 $10 FRN LGS A pretty, high grade specimen of this light green seal ten dollar federal reserve note from Dallas that exhibits bright, white paper and bold lime green ink colors. Grade: PCGS Gem 66PPQ Estimate: $350-450 Lot 189 - Fr. 2005-K - 1934 $10 FRN A pack fresh example of this DGS Mule ten dollar federal reserve note from Dallas that bears a serial number that is substantially higher than the high serial number listed for this district in the Schwartz-Lindquist reference. It is a note that presents a great opportunity for the FRN specialist and is certainly a piece that invites further research. Grade: PCGS CU 64PPQ Estimate: $200-300 Lot 190 - Fr. 2009-F - 1934D $10 FRN A gorgeous example of this earlier series ten dollar federal reserve note that has four wide margins, excellent color, and superb paper surfaces. Another “67” graded note for this series and district sold at auction a few months ago for over $350. Grade: PMG Superb Gem 67 EPQ Estimate: $200-300 Lot 191 - Fr. 2050-D* - 1928 $20 FRN Star A three note consecutive run of these 1928 Cleveland stars turned up in east Tennessee about a year ago. We sold the note two serial numbers higher in a gem 65 holder for more than $4,000. This piece has margins that appear just as nice, but yet it is only a 64q. Grade: PCGS CU 64PPQ Estimate: $1,500-2,000 Lot 192 - Fr. 2050-K - 1934 $20 FRN A well margined and sharply inked Dallas twenty dollar federal reserve note from this early series that is only held back from a much higher grade by a light center fold. Grade: PMG AU 55 EPQ Estimate: $450-650 Lot 193 - Fr. 2054-H - 1934 $20 FRN LGS A beautiful light green seal twenty from St. Louis that is the sole finest graded by PCGS for this series and district. This widely margined and pack fresh piece is destined for someone’s Registry Set. Grade: PCGS Superb Gem 67PPQ Estimate: $400-550 Lot 194 - Fr. 2057-K - 1934C $20 FRN Natural paper wave and embossing are easily seen through the holder of this pretty specimen of the New Back design for this Dallas federal reserve note series. Grade: PMG CU 64 EPQ Estimate: $200-300 Lot 195 - Fr. 2058-K - 1934D $20 FRN Ample margins and bold ink colors are the trademarks of this appealing Dallas twenty that car- ries a new low serial number for the Schwartz-Lindquist reference. Grade: PCGS CU 64 Estimate: $200-300 Lot 196 - Fr. 2085-C - 1999 $20 FRN Solid 4s It doesn’t take a math wizard to understand that solid serial numbers are only printed for every 11 millionth or so note issued by the government. Unlike low serial numbers which are usually snapped up by tellers and other cash handlers, you have to have a sharp eye and be in the right place at the right time to catch a solid fancy serial number like this example with all 4s. Grade: PMG CU 64 EPQ Estimate: $1,000-1,500 Lot 197 - Fr. 2100-D* - 1928 $50 FRN Star Even wear and bold green ink colors are seen on this moderately circulated example of this tough Cleveland star note. Barely two dozen replacement notes are currently reported for this district. Grade: VF Estimate: $350-550 Lot 198 - Fr. 2100-I - 1928 $50 FRN With a printing of just over 106,000, the Minneapolis district is the scarcest for the first series of the small size federal reserve notes. Any evidence of circulation is difficult to discern through the holder of this pretty example that shows vivid color and original embossing. Grade: PCGS AU 55PPQ Estimate: $1,000-1,500

Grade: CU Estimate: $125-175 Lot 205 - Fr. 2151-G - 1928A $100 FRN A high grade example of this dark green seal Chicago $100 that represents the district usually selected by type collectors to represent this series, this piece exhibits four wide margins, bold ink colors, and superb paper surfaces. Grade: PMG Gem 65 EPQ Size: Estimate: $400-550 Lot 206 - Fr. 2151-I - 1928A $100 FRN LGS A mere six districts issued the light green seal variety for this series, with the Minneapolis district considered the scarcest of that half dozen, particularly in the higher grades. Only ten notes are certified as AU or better by both PCGS and PMG. Today’s offering has the initial appearance of a Choice CU note and features wonderful color and embossing along with just a touch of handling found after close examination. Grade: PMG AU 55 EPQ Size: Estimate: $500-700 Lot 207 - Fr. 2152-B* - 1934 $100 FRN LGS Star A very tough New York $100 star note that is unpriced above the Very Fine grade in the Schwartz-Lindquist reference, this light green seal star has nice color and embossing with just a couple of light folds. The two major grading services have not certified an example of this rare star above the Extremely Fine 45 level. Grade: CGA AU 50 Size: Estimate: $800-1,200 Lot 208 - Fr. 2154-G - 1934B $100 FRN A near-Gem example from this less often seen $100 federal reserve note series that possesses plenty of original embossing, good color, and bright, white paper. A mere 396,000 notes were printed for the Chicago district for this series. Grade: PMG CU 64 EPQ Estimate: $550-750 Lot 209 - Fr. 2155m-K - 1934C $100 FRN Mule The embossing is quite pronounced on this pretty $100 federal reserve note Mule from the always popular Dallas district that is only held back from a higher grade by its centering. With full Gem examples selling for well into four figures in recent auctions, today’s offering presents a great op- portunity for the FRN collector to acquire this tough note at a more modest level. Grade: PCGS CU 64PPQ Estimate: $550-750 Lot 210 - Fr. 2156-C* - 1934D $100 FRN Star This is a really tough star note from the Philadelphia district. As far as we can tell, this is just the fourth documented survivor. The example here is a problem free VF/XF that was a late consign- ment and is being sold ungraded. The STL district actually had the second lowest printing for the 1928 $500 series. This note has a great look, but it does have a touch of stray ink and a small bottom margin tear. Grade: PMG VF 30 Net Estimate: $900-1,200 Lot 212 - Fr. 2201a-F - 1934 $500 FRN Here is a crispy VF from the Atlanta district. The PPQ says more than we can. Grade: PCGS VF30 PPQ Estimate: $900-1,000 Lot 213 - Fr. 2201-D - 1934 $500 FRN This is the only Cleveland $500 we are offering in today’s auction. Like many of the other notes, this one must just have a small imperfection keeping it from the uncirculated grade. Grade: PMG AU 55 Estimate: $1,200-1,400 Lot 214 - Fr. 2201-E* - 1934 $500 FRN Star As you might expect, $500 stars from the Richmond district are quite scarce. We know of just five pieces, and that total includes the new addition seen here. The reported high serial number is just 2365, meaning that the production on these was likely extremely limited. PMG notes tear repair. Grade: PMG VF 25 Net Estimate: $3,000-5,000 Lot 215 - Fr. 2201-G - 1934 $500 FRN LGS This should be a reasonably priced light green seal for the Chicago district. And it is already graded so you can save the time and money on that front. Grade: PCGS Fine 15 App Estimate: $700-800 Lot 216 - Fr. 2201-H* - 1934 $500 FRN Star Census records show that this new discovery is just the fourth 1934 $500 star enumerated for the St. Louis district. The other notes grade AU, low VF, and unknown. It is certainly safe to assume that this CU piece is the best of its very small group. It is a last minute consignment from Costa Rica, so the grade of 64 with 4-5 pinholes reflects an accurate grade of a note completely out of the woodwork. While we don’t think the note will sell extremely cheap, it certainly has a lot of upside for the flipper or long term speculator, as $500 stars continue to remain scarce. Grade: PMG CU 64 Estimate: $10,000-15,000 Lot 217 - Fr. 2201-J - 1934 $500 FRN LGS This is a lovely light green seal from the Kansas City district. This four digit serial number note is one of just 40,800 LGS varieties issued for the district. Of course most other survivors will be in far worse condition. Grade: PMG AU 55 Estimate: $1,500-2,000 Lot 218 - Fr. 2201-K - 1934 $500 FRN LGS There never seems to be enough light green seal $500s from Dallas to go around. This note is an XF 40 with the exceptional paper quality designation. Grade: PMG XF 40 EPQ Estimate: $1,400-1,800 Lot 219 - Fr. 2202-B - 1934A $500 FRN This $500 bill will do more than just impress the non-collectors who have never seen one. Very few $500s ever left the BEP with the margins for a 66 grade. And of course the majority of those that did were then immediately used in commerce. This New York example was lucky enough be perfectly preserved. Grade: PMG GEM 66 EPQ Estimate: $3,500-4,500 Lot 220 - Fr. 2202-B - 1934A $500 FRN This New York $500 must have been immediately put away after it was received many decades ago. A center fold is all it has to show in terms of circulation. Grade: PMG AU 58 Estimate: $1,400-1,800 Lot 221 - Fr. 2202-G - 1934A $500 FRN It looks like a tiny rust speck is all that is keeping this one fold AU out of a PPQ holder. This Chicago $500 would work well for a district set or just as a high grade example for the type. Grade: PMG AU 58 Net Estimate: $1,000-1,500 Lot 222 - Fr. 2202-J - 1934A $500 FRN A single light centerfold is observed on this Kansas City $500. Good color and even margins are also present. This one has an upper left corner bump, but appears to otherwise be issue free. Grade: PCGS AU 58PPQ Estimate: $1,200-1,500 Lot 226 - Fr. 2202m-G - 1934A $500 FRN I would wager that this Chicago $500 was proudly at the top of a stack of money for many years. It has a teller stamp and little bit of ink to show for its troubles. Grade: PCGS VF 20 App Estimate: $700-800 Lot 227 - Fr. 2202m-G - 1934A $500 FRN This is a fresh and original Chicago $500 that appears to only be kept from the PPQ designation by a teller stamp on the back. The paper is free of pinholes and clearly original. Grade: PCGS XF 40 App Estimate: $800-1,000 Lot 228 - Fr. 2202m-G - 1934A $500 FRN The first of two consecutive 1934A Chicago $500s. It looks like a center bend is visible through the holder. Grade: PCGS AU 53PPQ Estimate: $1,000-1,300 Lot 229 - Fr. 2202m-G - 1934A $500 FRN The second and slightly nicer of two sequential Chicago $500s. They both clearly never circu- lated, but likely picked up a small imperfection while being stored over the past 80 years. Grade: PCGS AU 55PPQ Estimate: $1,000-1,300 Lot 230 - Fr. 2210-L - 1928 $1000 FRN This is a sharp very lightly circulated $1000 from the San Francisco district. The note has clearly original paper surfaces and just a couple of vertical folds. Grade: PMG XF 40 Estimate: $2,200-2,800 Lot 231 - Fr. 2210-L - 1928 $1000 FRN The dark greens on this San Francisco $1000 look like they were applied this morning. It is certainly crispy and original. Grade: PMG AU 58 Estimate: $2,600-3,000 Lot 232 - Fr. 2210-L - 1928 $1000 FRN LGS Here is a light green seal San Francisco note from the 1928 series. The note has great colors and original surfaces, but it did pick up a minor paper pull. Grade: PMG XF 45 Net Estimate: $2,200-2,800 Lot 233 - Fr. 2211-A - 1934 $1000 FRN LGS This is the first of a great group of light green seal $1000s consigned to today’s auction. This Boston piece just shows only minor signs of circulation. Grade: PMG AU 50 Estimate: $2,400-3,000 Lot 234 - Fr. 2211-F - 1934 $1000 FRN LGS The colors and margins on this Atlanta light green seal are exactly as you would find on a gem example. Only minor signs of handling are visible through the holder. Grade: PMG AU 55 EPQ Estimate: $2,800-3,500

I don’t see any folds or condition issues. Just minor bends and handling are present. Grade: PMG AU 58 Estimate: $2,800-3,500 Lot 236 - Fr. 2211-F - 1934 $1000 FRN When considered as a group, 1934A $1000 notes from the Atlanta district are not especially uncommon. What is rare is to see one in an uncirculated grade. Grade: PMG CU 64 EPQ Estimate: $4,000-5,000 Lot 237 - Fr. 2211-G - 1934 $1000 FRN LGS Here is a sharp looking light green seal from the Chicago district. It has been awarded the coveted exceptional paper quality designation. Grade: PMG VF 30 EPQ Estimate: $1,800-2,200 Lot 238 - Fr. 2211-H - 1934 $1000 FRN Here is a nice high denom from the St. Louis district for the budget collector. The bottom margin has a tear that has some tape on it. Grade: VF Estimate: $1,300-1,600 Lot 239 - Fr. 2212-D - 1934A $1000 FRN It appears that a light horizontal bend is the reason for the grade on this Cleveland $1000. This should be an attractive note for the collector or upgrader. Grade: PMG AU 55 EPQ Estimate: $2,200-2,800 Lot 240 - Fr. 2212m-E - 1934A $100 FRN Mule This is an evenly circulated $1000 from the Richmond district. The grade of 20 seems very fair and accurate. Only 16,800 of these were printed for the district - making it the second toughest district for the series. Grade: PCGS VF 20 Estimate: $1,600-2,000 Lot 241 - Fr. 2212-G - 1934A $1000 FRN If you need a $1000 for case stock or to impress friends or family, then look no further than this crisp Chicago $1000 that has a very small edge tear. It is still very attractive for the grade. Grade: PCGS VF 30 Estimate: $1,500-1,700 Lot 242 - Fr. 2212-G - 1934A $1000 FRN This Chicago $1000 will likely be a target for anyone who chases beautiful notes that are under- graded. I see a broad corner fold and some handling, but nothing worse than that. Grade: PCGS XF 45 Estimate: $1,800-2,000 Lot 243 - Fr. 2212-G - 1934A $1000 FRN The Chicago $1000 seen here appears UNC and should likely sell for a very attractive price given the eye appeal and relatively high technical grade. Grade: PMG AU 58 Estimate: $2,400-3,000 Lot 244 - Fr. 2212-G - 1934A $1000 FRN The treasure trove of high denominations continues with this Chicago $1000. It is well docu- mented that 58 exceptional paper quality notes are always in demand. Grade: PMG AU 58 EPQ Estimate: $2,600-3,200 Lot 245 - Fr. 2212-G - 1934A $1000 FRN Even at just a glance, the original surfaces are quite apparent on this high denomination from the Chicago district. Grade: PMG CU 63 EPQ Estimate: $2,800-3,200 Lot 246 - Fr. 2212-G - 1934A $1000 FRN This is tied as the highest grade $1000 being offered in today’s auction. It is from the Chicago district, meaning as an uncirculated note, it should still be reasonably priced. Grade: PMG CU 64 EPQ Estimate: $4,000-5,000

The fresh bright white paper can clearly be seen even through the tinted PMG holder. This is your chance to own a piece of WWII history. Grade: PMG Gem 65 EPQ Estimate: $200-300 Lot 248 - Fr. 2307 - 1934A $5 North Africa The gem grade on this North Africa $5 certainly does not come as a surprise. An in person inspection reveals rich blues and crisp yellows that are usually quickly lost with just a touch of circulation. If you want the best of the best for WWII emergency issues then you have found it. Grade: PCGS Gem 66PPQ Estimate: $800-1,200 Lot 249 - Fr. 2309 - 1934A $10 North Africa Any small size seal color set is not complete without a North Africa note. Why settle for a circulated example when for just a little bit more money you can get a pack fresh ten like we are offering here. Grade: PCGS CU 64PPQ Estimate: $300-400 Lot 250 - Fr. 2400 - 1928 $10 Gold Certificate This is the highest grade gold certificate we have had the pleasure of auctioning. It is one of those notes that just seems to creep up in value year after year. The vast majority of uncirculated notes that are out there were not printed with the margins to ever receive a gem 66 grade like this example. Grade: PMG Gem 66 EPQ Estimate: $1,700-2,750 Lot 251 - Fr. 2402 - 1928 $20 Gold Certificate This $20 gold note has three very faint vertical folds. If you don’t chase UNC notes, but do require eye appeal, then this note should check your boxes. Grade: XF Estimate: $200-300 Lot 252 - Fr. 2402 - 1928 $20 Gold Certificate This is the first of three consecutive 1928 $20 gold notes. The gold overprint is bold and richly colored. And of course the grade of 64PPQ says a lot. Grade: PCGS CU 64PPQ Estimate: $700-900 Lot 253 - Fr. 2402 - 1928 $20 Gold Certificate The second of three sequential 1928 $20 gold certificates. This piece has the best margins and could make a case for a gem grade. Either way, this is a rare opportunity to acquire any or all of this group. Grade: PCGS CU 64PPQ Estimate: $700-900 Lot 254 - Fr. 2402 - 1928 $20 Gold Certificate The last of three consecutive gold notes. It would be cool, but perhaps costly to buy the entire set. However, as someone who used to avidly collect sequential notes, I can attest to the fact the opportunity to acquire another group like this might be years away. Grade: PCGS CU 64PPQ Estimate: $700-900 Lot 255 - Fr. 1509 - 1953 $2 Legal Tender Severe Butterfly Error A great “butterfly fold” error is found on this moderately circulated Legal Deuce. This example represents the F position, or bottom left corner, of an 18-subject sheet and a pre-printing fold of that corner resulted in this pretty error note. Errors on Legal Tender Notes, particularly $2 notes, are very scarce and always in demand. Grade: VF Estimate: $500-800 Lot 256 - Fr. 1921-B - 1995 $1 FRN Blank Back Errors This is a neat consecutive pair of misprints. The back of each note is completely missing. Both notes are a light bend away from being gems. Grade: AU Estimate: $400-600 Lot 257 - Fr. 1934-L - 2009 $1 FRN Overinked Error This very severely overinked back misprint appears to just have a corner bump keeping it in an AU holder. Grade: PCGS AU 58PPQ Estimate: $800-1,000 Lot 258 - Fr. 1957-B - 1934A $5 Gutter Fold Error A nice gutter fold is observed in the lower left corner of this crisp $5 FRN from this early series. Error notes from this earlier series are a bit more difficult to locate. Grade: CU Estimate: $80-120

This becomes the first serial number one note reported for the charter. It is a type2 five that faces up XF. The back shows four mounting remnants in the corners that could easily be removed by a professional restorer. Certainly a great chance to add some flare to an Alabama or state #1 collection. Grade: VF+ Estimate: $2,800-3,500 Lot 264 - Eufaula, AL - Ch. 2309 - $5 Series 1875 Due to its strategic position on the Chattahoochee River, Eufaula was an important commercial center in the South long before other more “household” name towns came into prominence. It is because of the town’s early prosperity that The Eufaula National Bank was able to open its doors in 1875. However, as rail and river transport became less important, Eufaula hit a depression and the bank failed in 1901 after is- suing just first charters and brown backs. Today, all money from the bank is scarce. With this new addition the census stands at a mere four pieces, only one of which has a grade or auction result associated with it. In terms of condition, this piece is Fine with about three pinholes and five punches bigger than pinholes but not large enough to be called tears - all of which are only visible when held to light. Grade: Fine Estimate: $8,000-12,000 Lot 259 - Fr. 1975-D - 1977A $5 FRN Multiple Overprint Error These multiple impression errors are rare and freaky. It takes a minute for casual observers to decide if their vision is blurry or if something is wrong with the note. It looks like a lower right corner bump is the reason this in a 58 and not a 66. Grade: PMG AU 58 EPQ Estimate: $1,800-2,200 Lot 260 - Fr. 2072-K - 1977 $20 FRN Serial on Back Error The back of this note looks like a 68 trapped in a 58 holder. Plus with these you are buying for the error and eye appeal and less for the technical grade. This should be a good value purchase. Grade: PCGS AU 58PPQ Estimate: $400-500 Lot 261 - Fr. 2150-L* - 1928 $100 FRN Star Error This San Francisco star is absolutely one of the coolest subtle errors out there. The star on the right serial number is actually inverted. It is an extra bonus that this piece happens to be a very attractive XF with a low three digital serial number. Grade: PCGS XF 40 Estimate: $3,000-4,000 Lot 262 - Fr. 2187-F - 2009A $100 FRN Cutting Error A pack fresh example of this newly released $100 series that features an appealing cutting error. The note is cut into the design in the top margin with a sliver of an adjacent 100 seen in its wide bottom margin. Grade: CU Estimate: $175-225

National BankNotes National BankNotes July 12-13, 2014 Auction | Live & Online Bids Accepted By Email, Fax, Mail, Telephone, Online, & Live 47 | Lot #265 - 268 Lot #269 - 270 | 48 Lot 269 - Central City, CO Territory - Ch. 2129 - $1 Series 1875 Here is a great new discovery that should be of interest to both territorial and first charter ace collectors. This piece was recently found in a safety deposit in Colorado and immediately consigned to our auc- tion. It is in fact the first and only documented Colorado ace from any town outside of Denver or Pueblo. Anyone who has visited Central City recently might think of it as an odd place to have had a territorial national bank. However, at one point in time Central City was widely reported as “The Richest Square Mile on Earth.” That claim stems from a massive 1859 gold discovery. Within just two months of the discovery the population of the area grew to 10,000 and Central City was incorporated. To put that size into perspective, Denver had a population of only 4,749 in 1860. And apparently the new population of Central City wasn’t just a boom and bust like so many mining locales. The town’s original national bank opened in 1866. This ace is from The First National Bank; it opened in 1873 and was around until 1933. The note here is a very bright and clean Fine. This charter only issued 1220 sheets of series 1875 aces, so the odds of finding another example from here are slim. This should be an attractive buying opportunity for any collector looking for a Colorado ace who doesn’t want to settle for a many times more common example from Denver or Pueblo. Grade: Fine Estimate: $15,000-20,000 Lot 270 - Frankford, DE - Ch. 8918 - 1929 $20 Type2 This is one of the hidden rarities in the auction today. Frankford had a single national bank. The total between both large and small in the census is just 10 pieces. Grade: Fine Estimate: $2,000-3,000 Lot 265 - Tucson, AZ - Ch. 4287 - 1902 $10 Blue Seal Pretty Arizona blue seals are few and far between. Fortunately, this Tucson note should be a welcome chance for collectors to add a great looking VF to their holdings. Grade: VF Estimate: $4,000-6,000 Lot 266 - Gurdon, AR - Ch. 13210 - 1902 $5 Blue Seal This serial number one blue seal from Arkansas originally showed up as part of the Hendrix col- lection at the bottom of the market in 2009 and it sold for a pittance as did many notes from that collection due to its size and the market timing. I expect this peach to get much more attention today. No other #1 large size notes from Arkansas have been available since that time. This piece has lovely two color signatures and its only wear is from a few storage folds. Grade: VF/EF Estimate: $15,000-20,000 Lot 267 - San Jose, CA - Ch. 2158 - $5 Original Series National Gold Banknote Finding any national gold bank note can be a challenge. However, if you want to make the search even more difficult, then try to locate one from a bank outside of San Francisco. The note we are offering is from San Jose and has been graded as Fine 12. PMG notes repairs, which is very common for this series. Gold and silver coins were greatly preferred over banknotes at the time this note originally circulated. So these traded hands frequently as people did not want to get caught holding what could wind up being a worthless piece of paper. And that is the exact reason these are rare today. Grade: PMG Fine 12 Net Estimate: $5,000-6,000 Lot 268 - Stockton, CA - Ch. 2412 - 1929 $10 Type1 Here is a super fresh small size note that has nearly perfect centering on the front and back. Less than 30 1929 examples are reported across all denominations for this charter. Grade: PMG XF 45 EPQ Estimate: $400-600
