RELEVANCE &
IMPLICATIONS
Within the College of
Merchandising, Hospitality, and
Tourism, our professors and
advisors have given us the
opportunities, tools an
experiences that give us an
advantage within the Home
Furnishing industry. We are
given the opportunity to get a
taste of what it is like in the real
world. We are learning the
intricate processes and amount
of time and work that goes into
creating a product in
preparation to have it out on
the market.
PURPOSE
To take classic, every day decorative accessories and tailor
them to meet the style of Global Views brand and the
trends we researched for the Spring/Summer ’17 season.
This project enabled us to combine our ideas and
innovation to produce a line of home furnishing products
through the use of 3D printing.
METHOD & PROCEDURE
We began by researching Global Views to figure out what
products and services they offer to their customers. Next,
we searched the WGSN website to foresee trends that we
could incorporate into our own designs. We took those
inspirations and created hand drawn sketches for a lamp
base, a vase and a candle holder. We then translated these
sketches into our computer aided design program,
TinkerCAD, which allowed us to see our ideas with form
and dimension. From there, we sent our models off to be
printed into a three-dimensional prototype.
