Adapt your resumefor
the exact job title
A more important question is what is the difference between
a CTO and a VP or Head of Engineering? Are these different
jobs? Is it all about the title and why do titles matter at all?
Recruiters search for exact job title matches, then
geographical location.
Does your LinkedIn match the job title you are
going for? While you may have more than one
resume, you can only have one LinkedIn Profile!
Adapt your LinkedIn
Hiring Managers may take it as a red flag if you
state you are both a VP and a CTO. Commit to
your career goal!

Createan Experience item for the job title you
want.
If you’re looking for employment, your LinkedIn profile needs
to display a work position that contains the job title you want.
The problem is that without doing this you won’t be found in
searches by potential employers looking to fill this position.
The fix is to edit your profile and create an item in the
Experience section. Set the title to the job title you want. The
result is that you’ll end up with an Experience item that looks
as though you’re self-employed in the role you want.
If you want to transition from
a VP role to a CTO role, join
CTO groups and actively
participate.
