Commanding Officer, Naval Air Rework Facility, Naval
Air Station North Island, San Diego California
1. The Gunfighters of Fighter Squadron ONE TWO FOUR extend our
warmest appreciation and a hearty well done to you for your
outstanding efforts in the rapid repair of F-14 aircraft, side
number 400.
2. On 29 September 1984, as part of a maintenance team from
your facility, you began work to replace damaged aircraft panels
in the starboard inlet of aircraft 400. The team was tasked to
work 24 hours a day to complete repairs by 6 October 1984. In
all respects, the team exceeded their tasking. By working
around the clock, the required panel replacement, plus
additional repair work identified by the team, was completed on
5 October 1984. A superior effort, demonstrating the highest
possible standards of ability, efficiency, and enthusiasm.
3. Please accept my personal thanks, and the thanks of my
Command, Mr. Sauceda. Your outstanding efforts have returned a
mission essential aircraft to our force in record time. WELL
DONE 1
