This presentation shares information about cyber security. This has basic information that should be known by everyone. The video at the end revises the whole topic in a very simple and straightforward manner.
2. Why do we need to be careful?
Nowadays, most of our needs our satisfied by computers. For e.g ,
communication, shopping, banking, studying , working , entertainment and
assistance in important activities. Since, we do so many things online ,there
are chances that our stored information or even personnel things get in
danger. So, we all must keep some things in mind while working online
because;
Caution is better than cure!!
3. Important rules to be known before
using internet
❖ Never provide personal information.
❖ Use strong passwords and do not share
them with anyone.
❖ Do not post any harsh comments on
browsing sites.
❖ Never download files from unreliable
sites.
❖ Never visit illegal sites.
❖ Never post inappropriate content online.
4. Kinds of danger online
➢ Hackers: These people modify computer hardware & software to accomplish a
goal outside the creator’s purpose. They sometimes do this to earn money,
sometimes to disrupt original data and sometimes to harass the creator. Some
companies hire hackers that do not hack do any of the above but instead help
protect the company’s online reputation.
➢ Crackers: The people who steal personal information, change financial data,
break security systems to gain unauthorized access of computer systems.
Cracking is considered illegal.
➢ From People on social media : Sometimes, the people on social media bully and
get into ugly conversations. In many cases, this may lead to great loss. People
may also share posts that are disrespectful and hurtful towards others.
5. ➢ Online sites: Nowadays, we rely on internet for almost everything. There is
a chance that when we try to purchase something online ,we are cheated on
and not provided with the service that we asked for. We also may start
following the rules provided by sites to gain personnel profits which are
not accurate. In these kind of situations, sooner or later we would have to
face difficulties.
Not only these, but we have a lot other cyber threats. And to prevent
these we must keep safety measures in mind and always use a safe
network to work online.
6. Cyber security can be divided into a few categories:
· Network security is the practice of securing a computer network from
intruders, whether targeted attackers or opportunistic malware.
Application security focuses on keeping software and devices free of
threats. A compromised application could provide access to the data its
designed to protect. Successful security begins in the design stage, well
before a program or device is deployed.
Information security protects the integrity and privacy of data, both in
storage and in transit.
Operational security includes the processes and decisions for handling and
protecting data assets. The permissions users have when accessing a
network and the procedures that determine how and where data may be
stored or shared all fall under this umbrella.
7. · Disaster recovery and business continuity defines how an organization responds
to a cyber-security incident or any other event that causes the loss of operations or
data. Disaster recovery policies dictate how the organization restores its operations
and information to return to the same operating capacity as before the event.
Business continuity is the plan the organization falls back on while trying to operate
without certain resources.
· End-user education addresses the most unpredictable cyber-security factor:
people. Anyone can accidentally introduce a virus to an otherwise secure system by
failing to follow good security practices. Teaching users to delete suspicious email
attachments, not plug in unidentified USB drives, and various other important
lessons is vital for the security of any organization.
8. CISO
CISO stands for chief information
security officer. CISOs work
alongside company officers,
business managers, cyber security
teams, and IT managers to effectively
monitor and maintain the security of
their organization's applications,
databases, computers, and websites.
A CISO plays a very important role in
cyber security.
9. Why is Cyber Security important?
● Data protection from unauthorised access, loss or deletion.
● Preventing financial fraud and embezzlement.
● Protection of intellectual property.
● Prevention of cyber espionage.
● Prevention of fraud through financial transactions like wire transfers
etc.
● Improves customer confidence.
Not just this but a lot other benefits!!
