I am a full professor of Computer Science at the University of Passau, Faculty of Informatics
and Mathematics, and the head of the Chair of Distributed Information Systems. My research
topics are distributed databases and database management, multimedia databases and
multimedia systems. I am member of the special interest group in database- and information
systems of the German Informatics Society (Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI)) and
member of the ACM SIG ACM's Special Interest Group on Multimedia (SIGMM) and
Management Of Data (SIGMOD).
I know Anthony since 4 years; we first met in Lyon where we attracted him to candidate for
our double master degree (German-French) in Computer Science between INSA de Lyon
and University of Passau. He successfully applied to this program and did an excellent
parcours in both countries. He speaks fluently French, German and English. He is very
flexible and open-minded.
The engineering and research interests and contributions of Anthony are mainly in databases
and information retrieval, he contributed with his projects and master thesis in the fields of
distributed database architectures, key-values storage, social data management, as well as
in information retrieval and clustering. His master thesis contributed to a better understanding
of the social behavior of people in the well-known “Fête de la Lumière” in Lyon, the biggest
social event in Lyon through the year. He analyzed the behavior and found many interesting
social interacting patterns which he connected to places and events and he really discovered
the needle in haystack.

program develops research and engineering skills in a very-well balanced manner and allows
