Your favourite bran biscuits
A pot of hot tea
Two cups by the window
Where the sun warms your knees
You pick at the pastry
Of the tart on the tray
I know what you're thinking
We should cherish each day
We should cherish each day
I'm Ok....thank you.....but thanks for asking
Who am I fooling, you know that I’m masking
The sad eyes I'm wearing leave nothing to say
No biscuits this morning
And just one cup today
No pastries or tarts
No need for a tray
One seat by the window
Just the one cup today
Just one cup today
Autumn leaves gathered in a heap by the brook
Like the pages plucked out from a tired old book
Time has been kind but a moment must end
And I'm glad that I shared it with a beautiful friend
I'm better....thank you.....but thanks for asking
Who am I fooling, you know that I’m masking
The sad eyes I'm wearing leave nothing to say
No biscuits this morning
And just one cup today
No pastries or tarts
No need for a tray
One seat by the window

Just one cup today
Your favourite tan shoes
Gather dust by the door
Their journey has ended
They'll be walking no more
I will polish them up
And keep them that way
I know you'd be thinking
I should cherish each day
I should cherish each day
I'm fine....thank you.....but thanks for asking
Who am I fooling, you know that I’m masking
The sad eyes I’m wearing leave nothing to say
No biscuits this morning
And just one cup today
No pastries or tarts
No need for a tray
One seat by the window
Just the one cup today
